Live Stats

Post by Money » Sat Jul 02, 2011 5:21 pm

The live stats for the main event and other leagues are going the way of the slow leagues. Sometimes all the stats come up, sometimes they don't. If we could do anything (for baseball) it should be to improve the live scoring. Almost all players visit these pages on a daily basis.

When they work like they have recently it takes a lot of the enjoyment out of the game.

Mine have been horrible all year long and I've used IE AND Firefox. With me, the hitting fails to show up, but I usually get the pitching. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!

Please address this as it takes away from everyones enjoyment of the game. YAHOO, CBS and ESPN are light years ahead in this technology. The best competition in the world deserves better than this.

FWIW, it is not simply the technology but likely access to a more robust stream of live stats. Live stats are very expensive, which is not as big of a deal to companies like CBS, ESPN and Yahoo.

Maybe I am in the minority, but count me in the group that feels live scoring should be a nice feature, not a focus, especially if it is using up resources (money or time) that are better spent elsewhere.

My enjoyment is watching box scores and watching the games on the MLB package. Live scoring is an afterthought, for me anyway.

I am with Todd on this one, but I also have not had any problems. I use Firefox primarily and I have never had an issue.

No to discount the frustration some seem to be having, but could this be an individual computer configuration problem (i.e. does Live Stats work better after you have rebooted your computer)? Just a thought.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I look at live stats as a bonus. Staying up to date by watching the games or catching either baseball tonight or MLB's quick pitch gives me a feel for how my teams are performing. Like Todd and Wayne, I like reading the box scores the next day to see if I missed any of the little things.

I initially had problems viewing the live stats using Internet explorer, but since I downloaded Google Chrome, the live stats have worked without incident.

Thanks for the input and suggestions. The stream of stats comment seems to make a lot of sense. I've gone ahead and installed Chrome and firefox. I'll check today to see if it gets any better. My issue is with the live stats most recently. They're getting slower and slower and sometimes are incomplete.

I to watch all the games on the MLB package, I simply enjoy watching them in conjunction with live scoring. I also use the live scoring when I'm out in the evenings.

Thanks
Joe
