A dozen examples of how things compute (or more aptly don't compute) for my team this season:

01 - Brandon League + Seattle 15 game losing skid = 0 saves

02 - Desmond Jennings + July 22 call-up = 2 months too late

03 - Stephen Drew + broken ankle = Darwin Barney for $10 FAAB

04 - Dustin Pedroia = :D

05 - Evan Longoria > Adrian Gonzalez = judgment error

06 - Jose Lopez + Coors Field = unconditional release

07 - Chris Heisey + 3 HR game = optimism

08 - (Chris Heisey + 3 HR game) / 12 AB per week = huh?

09 - Wandy Rodriguez + HOU offense - HOU bullpen = 6 wins

10 - Brian Matusz + line drive - command + Orioles = lost season

11 - Jaime Garcia in 17th round = (blind squirrel + an acorn)

12 - Jorge Posada - catcher's gear + DH = wrong token Yankee

I realize you're just venting/having fun, but this list isn't that bad. Your only complete misses were Matusz and Lopez, and both were mid round picks.

Most in the NFBC had Longoria over Gonzalez. The lack of elite 3B talent combined with questions surrounding A-Gon's shoulder had all but the savviest NFBC owners choosing incorrectly. I own neither but would have taken Longoria over Gonzalez. Next year, not so much.

I did not foresee Matusz's regression. You're not alone there. Ouch!

Jose Lopez could have just as easily had a Coors field revival. Depending on need and the flow of your draft, he could have been worth a mid to late round gamble. You already had 2B and 3B covered, but for MI/CI he might have made sense late.

Drew was a freak accident. Not your fault.

Nobody expected 20 wins from Wandy (I hope). He's otherwise pitched well and could get traded to a contender and still surpass most projections.

Jennings has time to shine.

League has been a great pick! I thought Aardsma was coming back.

Yes, it was an attempt at humorous venting. It's been a tough season, but you have to be able to look at the lighter side of things.

Actually I reached for Brandon League in the 18th round because I had been shut out in the bullpen up to that point. League and Kyle Farnsworth (!) have worked out well for me, but I haven't had enough other picks come through to compete.
