Liriano was placed on the DL yesterday the 25th. How come it not showing up today on here? Thought i could replace him with someone else?

Yeah, I'm waiting too. He's officially on the DL so I have no idea what the problem is.

I have him on a couple of teams and saw that he was dl'ed yesterday as well.

But, if STATS doesn't have the info or it is not made 'official' by midnight Friday, he won't have the dl designation for our purposes.

[/QUOTE]Boy, that is a shame for those of us that have used the Friday pitcher DL rule legitimately and by its intent. It appears the Twins announced he was going to the DL yesterday, but did not execute the move until today.

You have to keep in mind that when a team announces a player is going to the DL and when they actually file the paperwork and it is processed are two different things.

This is even more so in today's landscape with Twitter, social media, text alerts, etc.

Team officials and reporters can be very casual with what is specific terminology.

The name of the player escapes me, but recently, within the past week or so there were reports he would be placed on the DL only to have the team change their mind the next day. It was reported that he was ON the DL. I know because I took him out of the lineup in one of my leagues on Thursday night, to be surprised he hit a HR over the weekend.

I know what the time frame is for us to be able to make dl moves, but since we have the ability to change our line up up until game time on a friday why cant a pitcher who goes on the dl anytime prior to the friday games be replaced. I remember some sort of rationale behind the thursday deadline, but it doesnt really make sense to me. anyone remember why its done this way?

I think it was done such that owners who may not have access during the work day have equal opportunity to make a swap with those who have access.

I believe that was Frank Francisco you are referring to.
