Lindy Hinkelman In First In The Main Event Heading Into The Weekend

During the first year of the NFBC, Artie Rastelli and Aaron Seefeldt were actually tied for first place on the Friday night before the end of the season. With two days left in the NFBC season of 2004, we had a TIE for first place and the $100,000 grand prize.

This year we still have nine days left in the season, but again we have a TIE for the overall lead. How amazing is that with 390 teams in contention and 3,900 available points? In 2004, it was probably more likely with only 195 teams in the Main Event, but we have twice as many teams in the race now. But sure enough, today 2009 overall champ Lindy Hinkelman and NFBC veteran KJ Duke are tied for first place, each with 3,402.5 points. AMAZING.

In the NFBC Diamond League where the league prize is $75,000, we also have a tie right now between Scott Fleming and Jim Ferrari. Both are at 103 points. The Diamond League pays the top four finishers and the race for a money finish is intense through at least six teams. This has been an incredible league all year long. Good luck all.

With one week and one day left in the NFBC season -- unless there is an MLB tie-breaker needed -- the race for the NFBC's $100,000 grand prize continues to be hotly contested. Lindy Hinkelman, our 2009 NFBC Champion, is back in the lead after moving ahead by 18.5 points last night. Every single statistic is needed here over the next eight days. KJ Duke is now in second place while Paul Gromek is in third place overall, but he's struggling to even win his league title because fellow league-mate Jason Duponte is fifth overall. WOW, plenty of hot races to follow.

Lindy Hinkelman remains in first place in the NFBC Main Event, but his hold on the $100,000 today over KJ Duke is a little less secure. KJ Duke made up 11.5 points last night and now the lead is just 7 points. With seven days of the season left, this should go right down to the wire. The race for the $100,000 grand prize is now separated by just 19.5 points with four days to go. Well, maybe four days to go. Both the AL and NL Wild Card races could go to extra games on Thursday, so stay tuned. Remember, those games would count in the NFBC as well since MLB counts those as regular season games.

Anyway, Lindy Hinkelman is going for his second overall NFBC title in three years and leads KJ Duke by 19.5 points. Here's a look at the Top 20 in the Main Event:
