Lindy Hinkelman's Incredible 2011 Season

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Sep 30, 2011 4:40 am

It was a season for the ages. Unfortunately, he already had a season for the ages. What, is this guy age-less?!! :D

Lindy Hinkelman accomplished the impossible in 2009 when ht won TWO NFBC National titles. He won the Main Event among 390 teams with a dominating performance to win $105,000. He also won our debut NFBC Online Championship against 400+ teams to win an additional $41,300. We created a bonus that year of $75,000 for winning BOTH national titles, which Lindy of course earned. He also finished second in the Ultimate League for another $15,000 and when it was done he had accumulated $241,300 in earnings.

A season for the ages, done by someone from Greencreek, Idaho who owns a pig farm. And LOVES baseball.

Two years later, Hinkelman has done it again. He has made history by winning the NFBC's Main Event overall title and collecting $105,600 for that accomplishment. He beat KJ Duke by just 2.5 points for the overall title. When you consider that 3,900 points are available in the Main Event, he scored one-tenth of a percent more than KJ did. Lindy accumulated 87.4% of all available points and KJ accumulated 87.3% of all available points.

Just an amazing and unforgettable race. A season for the ages...again.

Let's look at Lindy's 2011 season just from a pure numbers standpoint, since this is a contest of numbers:

He competed in 7 NFBC leagues this year.

He won four league titles, finished 3rd, 5th and 9th in the others.

He won Las Vegas League 4 with 138 of 150 league points and won the overall title.

He won Las Vegas March 25th Auction League with 120.5 points and finished 2nd overall.

He tied for 1st place in the March 25th 4 pm Live Double Play with 82 points and finished 53rd overall.

He won the March 8th Online Double Play with 85 points and finished 168th overall.

He finished 3rd in the March 27th Live Double Play with 76.5 points, 5th in the Ultimate Auction League with 85.5 points and 9th in the $150 Slow Draft League #13 with 74 points.

Lindy spent $8,750 in entry fees in 2011 and won $116,775. He remains the NFBC's Career Money Leader with earnings of $360,075. There are only two members in the NFBC's Hall of Fame: Stephen Jupinka and Shawn Childs. There may be a third member soon. ;)

In the Main Event, Lindy had the 14th pick in Las Vegas League 4. He won LV 4 with 138 out of a possible 150 points (92 percent of available points) and won the overall title with 3,407.0 points out of a possible 3,900 (87.4% of available points).

Lindy targeted several players in multiple events and they came through. They included Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw and Curtis Granderson. Here's his picks in LV 4 from the 14th spot:
