Signup List For First $1,000, $375 and $150 NFBC Slow Drafts

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Oct 04, 2011 8:49 am

I know that the MLB season is still weeks away from completion, but we have some NFBC owners who are already eager to draft. Heck, one NFBC pay league is already underway with 15 owners making each pick via email. Now that is DEDICATION!!! :D

There is no question that the Slow Draft Draft Champions contest will be returning in 2012 after a successful debut season in 2011. We are tweaking the software now and will tweak the rules slightly as well. We are going to reduce the time between picks this year to 8 hours with the hope that none of you need more than 8 hours of beauty sleep!! :D With an improvement to the auto-pick process and the shortening of time between picks, we believe that these leagues can move slightly faster and become more enjoyable for everyone.

Once again we'll offer two price levels: $375 and $150. $25 from each team goes towards the overall prize pool and the prizes are based on 20 leagues or 300 teams. League prizes remain the same. They include:

$375 Slow Draft DC League:
1st: $1,400
2nd: $1,400
3rd: $1,400

$150 Slow Draft DC League:
1st: $1,000
2nd: $375
3rd: $125

A $1,000 Slow Draft League has also been added:
$1,000 Slow Draft DC League:
1st: $8,000
2nd: $3,000
3rd: $1,000

These are 15-team leagues and 50 rounds. There are no free agent pickups during the season; what you draft is what you get for the entire season. You do make weekly lineup changes from your 50-man roster, but there are no free agent pickups after Draft Day.

So with all of that in mind, let's start planning for the first drafts. They will begin in late November (maybe early December) and continue after that as soon as each league fills. For now, however, we'll try to fill the leagues with interested owners and then hold off until the draft software is tested and ready to go. We also don't want to start toooooo early, but you'll let us know soon enough when you're ready!! ;)

Okay, we don't need payments yet and we don't even have the registration page ready, but if you want to secure a spot in the first Slow Drafts of the season less than two months from now, let us know. We'll hold your spot and get things rolling. Thanks all. Here we go:

Its cool Dan... I plan on using my Secret Name - "Anonymous"!

I am finally getting back into the Main Event this year and don't want those guys stealing my draft ideas going into it! ;) :D

PS Greg, if you want to start the $1000 SLOW DRAFT Signup List and plan on starting it the first day of Spring Training like last year, please feel free to put my name on that list too!

Gotta get the better of MtM this year though!

Current $1,000 Slow Draft League Prize Money

1st Place $8,000

2nd Place $3,000

3rd Place $1,000

Or I was thinking since its a higher dollar amount league, we could flatten out the prize money a bit and get more people involved in the winnings with something like this in 2012. Thoughts?

$6500 - 1st

$2750 - 2nd

$1750 - 3rd

$1000 - 4th

Max/Greg,

I would suggest that maybe we invite everyone who participated in the inaugural 1K slow draft have first dibs at spot again for 2012.

With that being said, count me in again.

Greg,

Put me in for the first $375 and I WILL BE BACK to defend my title in the first $1000! Sorry, RT. Nice try. :D . Fast enough for ya, Max? ;) And just my two cents...keep the prize money for the $1000 at what it was this year. More for me that way!

With that being said, count me in again. I concur. Nice idea. Great group of guys...except for me, of course. I'm the complete bastard of the bunch, but that's part of my allure :D :D :D
