Now, a thought that I've brought up to Shawn and Rick Thomas....

I like the concept of this draft, but don't think it goes far enough. The one hit wonders or one year wonders (of which my favorite has not been selected as yet) grate on me for some reason.

My idea is to have the same rules and draft, only eliminate years.

Draft players for their career numbers.

At bats and innings would be at a premium and it would put a twist on this draft.

It would change drafting styles completely from this draft and take it to a new level.

Just thoughts.

Carry on There are TONS of variations. My friends at Rotojunkies have suggested a few.

Career totals was one.

Forcing to pick x amount of players from certain eras is another.

One of their favorites was forcing you to pick a player whose first (or last) name begins with a different letter.
Using career numbers isnt as good-Year choice is part of the strategy in designing your team

Another variation on this: You could replay the 2011 season. Invite Lindy and KJ to Duke (pun) it out again.

Guys. Give me a few minutes. Just getting the little ones into bed. Okay.... As I am putting the little guy into bed, he said, "Daddy, tell me a Mickey story." And with my mind pre-occupied with baseball stats of all-time legends, I start telling him about the Yankees great Center Fielder. "Mickey Mouse plays baseball, dad?"

So, put me in coach, I am ready to take...

Mickey Mantle 1956

BA .353

HR- 52

RBI- 130

Runs- 132

SB- 10

Eddie Cicotte 1917 -- 28 Wins, 1.53 ERA, .912 WHIP, 150 Ks, 4 Saves in 346.2 IP. Strong pick there. A guy I thought should have been gone by now. Great ratios and wins over a lot of innings, even a few saves. Only mediocre k numbers but I think the rest more than makes up for that
Thanks... was all set to take Claude Hendrix until realizing at the last minute that he was in the Federal League.

Fair to say this draft is moving a little faster than I'd expected...
Too funny, I was looking at Hendrix also until I came to the same realization. Maybe we should reconsider including Federal League players.

The catching position is extremely top-heavy and getting shallow quickly. The pick:

Lawrence "Yogi" Berra, C, NYY 1950

.322 AVG (192/597) / 116 R / 28 HR / 124 RBI / 4 sb
