FINAL RULES 1941-2011_DRAFT
Posted: Thu Nov 17, 2011 3:00 pm
1941 – 2011 All Time Draft:
You can draft any player who played in the AL or NL starting from 1941 to present. We are using a 20 game minimum in season for the batting positions.
When you are on the clock and select a player, you need to post the players name AND the year you are selecting him for. Once that player is selected, he is removed from the player pool (even if he qualifies at another position). So if you select Jeremy Hellickson 2011, no one else can select Hellickson.
If a player you select qualifies at multiple positions FOR THE YEAR YOU SELECTED, you can move them around during the draft until you fill your roster.
This is a standard 15 team Roto league. Each team will be drafting 23 players [14 hitters – 2 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 SS, 1 CO (1st or 3rd), 1 MI (2nd or SS), 5 OF, and 1 utility (any batter) and 9 pitchers (1500 innings minimum and 2 required RP’s)].
There are 10 categories – five hitting (BA, R, HR, RBI, and SB) and five pitching (W, ERA, WHIP, K’s, and SV’s). Each team will be ranked in each category from 1st to last. The top team will receive 15 points and the lowest will receive 1 point. Teams will split points if they are tied in a category. BA, ERA and whip will go to the furthest decimal point to break ties.
We will be using Baseball-Reference.com for our stats. Their stats, right or wrong, will be our guideline.
The league will have running standings with the exception of rounds 5, 10, 16, and 23. In those rounds, owners will email a neutral party (Dan Kenyon) the player and year they’d like to select. If the player has already been drafted, the owner will need to select another player until he finds one that hasn’t been selected.
This is a slow draft with a 24 hour clock. If a team is timed out, it will go to the next pick. After that player makes his pick, it will go back to the previous team and he will have two hours to make his pick. Since we are getting close to the time people start prepping for official NFBC events, PLEASE be considerate to your league mates and pick as soon as possible. We should try to get through AT LEAST 1 round a day (hopefully closer to 2 rounds a day). In an effort to keep the draft going, I will try to text/email owners when they are on the clock.
Entry Fee: $125 (The owner who handles the spreadsheet and posting the standings after each round will play for free)
Payouts (assuming 15 teams):
1st: Free entry to 2012 Main Event ($1,400)
2nd: $350 in 2012 NFBC credits
This league will use KDS and 3RR.
MISC:
If a team fails to get 1,500 innings, the team will receive one point for all pitching categories.
Teams must have at least two relief pitchers. A relief pitcher needs to have 30 relief appearance to qualify (games – starts = relief appearances).
If an owner drafts a player and the player has pitching and hitting stats, he will only get the stats for the position he decides to use him at. A hitter will receive no pitching stats and a pitcher will receive no hitting stats.
If an owner selects a player for which there is not a legal roster spot remaining, the owner must select another player. If other players were selected in the meantime, those players cannot be considered by the owner in question.
3RR stands for 3rd Round Reversal, which allows the bottom of the draft order to begin Round 3 after also starting Round 2. It's one way to balance the talent in a 15-team league. Here’s how the rounds would look with 3RR and blind bids…
