Okay, one week is in the books and it's time to congratulate Dan and Mitzi Kenyon for winning the first weekly prize, courtesy of Upper Deck Authenticated. Dan and Mitzi are new members to the NFBC this year and they started out their debut season the right way, leading the overall standings after the first week with 2,411 points. The Doughboys' first week consisted of a .334 team average, 57 runs, 14 home runs, 44 RBIs and six stolen bases. Led by Roger Clemens, Johan Santana and Chad Cordero, the pitching staff accumulated 7 wins, two saves, 58 strikeouts, a 3.818 ERA and a 1.288 WHIP. The Doughboys have a balanced attack that accumulated 1,260 hitting points and 1,151 pitching points.

Congratulations again to Dan and Mitzi Kenyon from Las Vegas League 7. Enjoy the autographed Roger Clemens photo as it doesn't hurt that he also helped you win that prize! And good luck the rest of the way in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

A 30th anniversary present has already provided some additional benefits for Dan and Mitzi Kenyon - thanks to the NFBC.

The couple took advantage of an anniversary getaway to Las Vegas to take part in this year’s NFBC and they celebrated some early season good fortune as their team, The Doughboys in Las Vegas League 7, finished first in the Week 1 standings. For coming out on top of the competition last week, The Doughboys won an autographed Roger Clemens photograph worth $300 from Upper Deck Authenticated.

The Doughboys had a balanced attack that accumulated 1,260 hitting points and 1,151 pitching points.

“Our strategy going into the draft (with the eighth pick overall) was get the player at his position in the first round and that was Santana,” Dan Kenyon said. “Then besides targeting (David) Ortiz in the second round and (Jose) Reyes in the fourth it was just a matter of picking the best player available.”

The Kenyons reside in Grand Junction, Col. and have two twin daughters (Valerie and Mandy). Dan is “semi-retired” while Mitzi is an office manager for a garage door company. The two have been impressed with their debut season with the NFBC.

“You guys run a solid organization and we are really impressed with your quick responses and openess to new ideas,” Dan said. “Speaking of ideas, we think you should get rid of the guest speaker in Las Vegas and just have Meat Loaf give a mini-concert.”
