Prospectors Wins Week 9 Prize
Thanks, Tom!
Knew the boys were doing well last week - just didn't know how well!
Tell Jeff he can come over any weeknight to sign the photo. Word is he doesn't have much to do these days.

Prospectors Wins Week 9 Prize
Is the No. 1 pick the best pick in a fantasy draft? It’s an endless source of debate and discussion among fantasy owners.
For one week in the NFBC, however, the No. 1 spot proved to be golden.
Larry Lensak, who drafted first in New York League 7, topped the competition in Week 9, finishing with 2,444 points. His team, Prospectors, hit a strong .327 last week, paced by sizzling Nick Johnson (.545). Other strong offensive performances were turned in by Michael Young (.464), Garret Anderson (.423-2-6), Jermaine Dye (.391) and Kevin Millar (.368-2-4).
On the mound, Kenny Rogers continued his standout season by winning two games while Oliver Perez posted 13 Ks in 13 IP and Eddie Guardado had three saves.

Heading into the draft Lensak said he was torn about which player to take with the first overall selection.
“After thinking A-Rod was the way to go all winter long, I decided on (Carlos) Beltran based on his 2004 playoff performance and his demeanor since arriving in New York,” said Lensak, a divorced father of two who is a partner at Lensak Financial Services, LLC in Wayne, N.J. “That, plus I figured I needed speed and power since my next pick was going to be No. 30. We all know how that’s gone so far.
“As many do, my draft strategy changed on the fly. I had two power guys set for pick No. 30 and No. 31 that were going in the 30-40 slot in mock and expert drafts. They, of course, were gone by my turn and I decided to grab two solid middle infielders (Michael Young and Marcus Giles). Then closer mania hit our draft and I was miles away from my next pick.
“It was a great experience to go through a draft where the unexpected came up and slapped you in the face a number of times.”
Prospectors got off to a sluggish start, but Lensak’s team has kept battling and thanks in large part to last week’s strong showing has started moving up the standings in New York League 7.
“My team started off terrible and I've been pecking my way up from No. 15 to currently No. 5-6 in our league,” he said. “Pat Burrell and Mike Hampton carried my team early. Lately it’s been Nick Johnson, Chone Figgins, Garret Anderson, Michael Young and Mark Grudzielanek.
“My pitching, which was an early season disaster, has rounded into shape with Kenny Rogers, Chris Young, C.C. Sabathia, Oliver Perez and Eddie Guardado doing well. If one thing put me over the top last week it was Kevin Millar who finally did something.”
As for the NFBC itself, count Lensak among the many fans of this unique fantasy event.
“The NFBC was my first live-and-in-person baseball draft,” he said. “I’ll admit I was a bit apprehensive about the draft - 15 teams and 450 players to draft seemed a bit overwhelming. But that feeling went away immediately once the draft started.
“I really enjoy the NFBC. The draft was top notch and the free-agent system is a blast. I always look forward to Sunday nights. And despite bad early reviews, New York 7 is the place to be.”
