Draft Spots For $250 Don Mathis League

We have filled one league for the debut Don Mathis Mid-Season League, which is the only setup where owners will retain stats from the first half for their 23 starters of Week 1. We didn't have enough interest in a second league, so I apologize to those who were left out. Next year I'm sure we'll have more than one of these leagues.

Okay, this is the only league that we'll have on Wednesday, July 13th, so this will start promptly at 6 p.m. EST. This will be a 30-round, serpentine draft and you do not have to fill your 23 starting spots with your first 23 picks.

Just an FYI: The computer will likely calculate your standings after the draft based on the players you first selected to fill each of your 23 spots, but you still have until Thursday, July 14th to change your starting lineup and the computer will then recalculate those standings after everyone has officially set their starting linups, so don't panic right away. We have this setup figured out and by Friday morning the standings will be accurate.

Good luck everyone. This should be a fun, fun league. Thanks again to Don Mathis, who came up with the concept and who will forever be honored with the league namesake!

Here's one more rules clarification for the Mid-Season Leagues that everyone should be aware of. In the NFBC's main event, we allowed you to draft any player from any team, even if they weren't on the 40-man roster. However, in the mid-season league, only players that are in the data base are eligible to be drafted. The list we have are current lists of MLB teams' 40-man roster and some teams actually have less than 40 men on those rosters. You can not draft a Class A guy and ask someone to write in that pick. If he's not in the data base for whatever reason, he can't be picked in the Mid-Season League.

I know that there are some young prospects you'd like to draft and store away until the September callups, but if they're not in the data base then they can't be drafted. Sorry, but we are officially licensed with the MLB and through STATS and only players on 40-man rosters at this time are in the data base and thus eligible to be drafted in this mid-season league.
