Free Agent confusion?
I understand the way the system works as explained via the rules and posts I have already read but there is a scenario I don't think was explored. If you want to bid on more than one free agent in the same week rather than multiple scenarios for the same player Can it be done ??
For example, If I want to add a pitcher and a hitter can I say as my first bid Drop Roger Clemens and pickup Victor Zambrano and suppose I bid $10. Assume that I win that bid. If I also have another bid that I place as a contingent that says drop Javy Lopez and pickup Jason Kendall and suppose I bid $15. If I were the highest bidder for Jason Kendall can I win him also.
From all I have read it makes it sound like only your first choice will be awarded. If that is the case it would sound like a lousy system restriction to make you wait another week for a player that noone else may have bid on simply because the computer program only allows your first choice to be recognized and all that follow would be cancelled once you obtained your highest priority. Everyone should be able to make multiple roster moves every week if they want to.
Anyone have an answer??

You could replace all 29 of your players each week, if you wanted to and if you could afford it.

What happens if you put in a $30 bid for player A to replace Javy Lopez, $20 for player B to replace him and $20 for player C to replace Javy. Let's say you get outbid on a player A but your bids for B and C are both highest. Which player will you get, will they go in the order that you put in for them if both bids are identical? That's the way All Star Stats does it and I certainly hope we'll be able to do it that way. Anyone know? Thanks.

Geez....
If you place a bid for 3 FA from the WW and only want to drop one player. You place a priority on which one you want first. If you're the high bidder on player A, then yuou get him and players B+C are canceled. If you are outbid on Player A, then your request for player B if tried. If you are the high bidder, you get that player. If you are outbid for palyer B, then your request for player C is tried. If you are the huigh bidder, you get him, if not, then you get no new players.
Basically, If you win the first player, you done. If not, they try your next one.

Repeat:
Let me do this with names... you're saying what if you want to add:
Bob drop Mary
Max drop Sue
Harry drop Betty
Tom drop Britney
It's easy to figure out how to add Bob, drop Mary - no problem.
BUT, you're saying you want to put in a transaction scheme that reads:
Add Bob, Drop Mary, but if I don't get Bob then I want Add Max, Drop Mary and if I don't get Max then I want to add Harry Drop Mary. Clearly, in your decisions here you want to drop Mary for the best available player FIRST - and you're okay with dropping all 3 players if you get the 3 you want.
You'd enter it like this:
Add Bob $1, drop Mary
Add Max $1, drop Mary
Add Max $1, drop Sue
Add Harry $1, drop Mary
Add Harry $1, drop Sue
Add Harry $1, drop Betty
Thus, if you get your first request - then the 2nd request has line 1 voided and proceeds... etc.
I haven't tested this in the system yet - but this is how it would have worked last year.

Dave is correct. That is how the process will work. If there are any glitches, please let us and STATS know.

Is it true that only players listed as free agents through the NFBC league site are avaiable to be picked up? No listing not available until appearring on list.

Correct. We will supply a list of 11 players tomorrow who weren't on original 40-man rosters and thus aren't on the free agent list yet. MLB teams have to announce their 25-man active rosters 12 hours before their first game, so it's possible some guys you want to pick up won't be on the free agent list by Sunday at 7 p.m. EST. If that happens, they will just become eligible for the first time the following week. This will be an interesting first week of FAAB, so pay attention right up to the FAAB deadline on Sunday as this part of the equation is out of our control.

I must be a total moron, but I can't find anywhere on this site where I'd enter free agent moves -- or any instructions on where to go or how to do it. Do I have to go to the STATS web site to do this? What do I do and where? Don't want to be aced out of all those superstar free agents in the pool!
Thanks

You go to the NFBC website, type in your username and password, up pops your team (you click on it), up pops your league. Now find "Transactions." Click on "Transactions" then "Free Agents." You're now there.

A Question on Free Agent Bidding Results each week --
Obviously, you will know whether or not you "won" any player(s) you targeted each week in the FA pool by whether or not they end up on your team. BUT -- does the website / system also allow you to see how much you might have LOST a player by, or equally interesting, the bidding "action" on a specfic player etc.? Over time, this stuff would be nice information to assess to better understand who you're up against in your own league, and their capabilities, tendencies in terms of bids.
Thanks for the insights...

Jumping in head first, you should NOT be allowed to have bids continguent on winning a prior bid and here is why.
You make a bid that says drop Clemens and pickup Pudge for $20. You then say that continguent on winning the first bid you will drop Kendall and pick up Sosa. Let's say you win Pudge and then you win Sosa.
BUT
Pudge fails to make the 25 man roster and therefore Greg must invalidate your "victory" of Pudge after the fact. Because all the other FA moves were processed and your victory an getting Sosa (where you released your other catcher)impacted numerous other contiguency bids, all the other actions have to be considered competed. Suddenly you only have one catcher and you have an invalid lineup. No points for the upcoming week for you and lots of grief to you and probably to Greg.
I don't see how this type of bidding can be allowed. Maybe I'm missing something but it could happen. And anything that can happen will happen given enough time.

Contingent bids are used only if you are NOT successful in getting the player you list first. Back to the drawing board, sport. You got two days to get into shape. Better get started.

GG . .I absolutely and fully agree with what you said but would like to hear it from Greg.
I am one of these people who look for oddball situations and try to reslove them ahead of time. I rewrote the rules for the local little league and babe ruth programs in vienna. It was very difficult to anticipate all the rule bending methods that coaches could come up with to get around rules. I got pretty good at anticipation.

OK, so you've made the winning bid on a player who played less than 20 games and a player who had no MLB games last year. (and they both made the 25 man roster, hurray!) Are both players granted immeadiate roster elligibility at their positions?
