Stats not updated for 9/20
Hi guys,
The system didn't update yesterday's stats into today's standings. I know the system is showing a time signature for a daily update, but no numbers changed, at least in my league (LV2).

12:50 no updates. TOTAL FAILURE BY STATS. We are currently tied--AS OF YESTERDAY for the Chanpionship in our AL Auction and in a Dog fight at the top for the overall ($100,000) and have to make line up decisions for the week without yesterdays stats being include. Ducky, Just Ducky. Start the searh for a replacement for STATS.

After speculating last week that the problems with last Sunday's waiver pickups were related to the start of football season, it's very disappointing to see that we've had another bout of Sunday/Monday problems. This competition should not be taking a back seat to Week 2 of the NFFC or football season in general.

I can assure you the NFBC is not taking a backseat to the NFFC or football in general. I contacted STATS and they are looking into the problem, so hopefully it will be rectified shortly.

There have been way, way too many problems with STATS this year on this site. TQ, used by CDM, has been 100% reliable and is a much easier and more comprehensive site to navigate. I wish we had the same setup!

Wow, lots of bitter and unhappy people here.
I hope none of you have kids you beat for their total failures, etc.

Let me also join in on this conversation and talk about STATS, our statistical partner. First of all, I am happy with the system, with the web setup and with the timely service STATS has provided us in Year One. There is no question that it takes time for everyone to learn a new system and I'm sure there have been difficulties finding everything on the NFBC site and using the FAAB initially. But I have to believe that the system is second hand to NFBC users now. Changing providers for next year doesn't make sense to me.
Yes, we've had a few hiccups along the road, like any setup. The slowness the last two Sundays with real time scoring, with transaction updates and with standings updates have not been a result of us adding the NFFC or STATS servicing the NFFC. They are running many games on their servers and the traffic from the likes of SI.com and EA Sports certainly caused delays in the entire system during Week 1. Week 2 was MUCH better as STATS doubled the number of servers they use, but for some reason we still had delays with transactions and standings yesterday for the NFBC. That shouldn't have happened, but it was corrected by 1:30.
STATS does not foresee any time delays going forward and hopefully there won't be any. Can I promise absolutely no problems the rest of the way or in Year Two if we stay with STATS? No, but I like our chances. They have been an invaluable partner and a great technical support team.
I look forward to other comments about the site, about changes that need to be made technically and about STATS in this forum. It hasn't been a perfect debut season, but it has been a good one and we want to improve on this one going forward. But trust me, any technical glitches we had recently have not come from KP concentrating too much on the NFFC or even STATS concentrating too much on football. They were server problems that were caused by the incredible traffic numbers and those problems have been corrected.
We are making plans for 2005 baseball as we speak and look forward to your comments. Thanks again.

A loyal Defense of Krause's "Partner"SHIP with STATS. I have no problem wih the site layout and after the usual discomfort of a learning curve am fine with the site. Though some tweaks to FAAB (I Feel) would be well recieved.
The fact of not updating and being in a general disarray the entire Labor Day weekend and not updated until 1:30 this Monday, with lineups due at 1:00 are what I find unsatisfactory. There are two time sensitive situations (FAAB & Lineups) The problems have come at these junctures.
Gregg, you're willing to forgive and forget. I say give'em one more strike. The site runs smoothly the rest of the year or they're OUT!!

I think every provider will have problems at times. I do agree that delays in FAAB results has an impact as some teams may have difficulty in setting lineups Monday morning. This is a potentially big problem and one that needs Greg's and his staffs immediate attention. Delays in posting up-to-date standings at this juncture doesn't seem to have a huge impact. Seeing the prior days standings should generally suffice in the decision making process.
Changes I would like to see are:
(1) ability to modify FAAB dollars bid without having to delete the entire series of bids and continguency bids. Deciding to raise a bid by $10 can create 10-15 minutes of work if there are several continguency picks attached.
(2) ability to see a team's actual year-to-date at bats and hits. This can help when evaluating batting average.
(3) ability to see year-to-date innings pitched. This can be helpful in making pitching decisions involving starters in places like Coors where runs and hits run amouck.

It's not really a defense of STATS, Kevin, it's a simple fact that overall they have been solid. We feel let down by the slowness of the last two Sundays and Mondays with football taking up most of their server space and I agree we are asking them to somehow make sure baseball's transactions aren't slow next week. This is too critical of a time for our guys and we'll do what we can next week to make sure everyone has a fair shot at the free agents they want. Let's watch the process this weekend before calling anyone OUT!
As for changes by Viper:
1) This has already been done and the guys in football see a marked improvement. This will be implemented in baseball next year and we certainly understand the needed changes. No problem with this request.
2) Absolutely. Not sure why it wasn't on here this year, but we'll request it immediately for 2005.
3) Same here. I'll request it now.
Keep 'em coming. This should be a fun off-season of improving the NFBC.

Hey viper -- You should already be able to see YTD at bats, Hits, IP, etc. Go to Stats, Team Stats. Enter "Fantasy YTD" in the Period pull-down field, and enter "Standard" in the Stats pull-down. That shows your team's cumulative stats for the year.
Hopefully, that answers your questions #2 & #3.

I see they are there. I am almost certain that they were not available around the all star break but I could be wrong. Regardless, this is a good thing.

Dyv, I may have expressed myself incorrectly. My problem is not in finding things on the site, but rather certain things just not being available - period. Let me give some examples:
1) It has bugged me all year long that you can't check every league's draft. Yes, you can check all the teams in your own league, but that's it. I feel strongly that all the drafts should be available for view at all times.
2) The free agent bidding system is a pain when making changes, but this has already been addressed. I'm glad to hear that this will be modified.
3) The live scoring has been rife with bugs and problems all year long - especially lately. I have had players simply not come up at all. Just a few days ago, in the space of 30 minutes, I had three pitchers stats appear and disappear. Eventually, by the end of the night, it was accurate, but it gave me cause for concern. Last week my friend actually had stats that were mathematically incorrect!! The live scoring site was actually adding at bats for his players, making his batting average worse than it should have been. I personally saw this with my own eyes, by the way! (After a couple days, this was fixed)
4) You can't check current rosters and stats of teams outside your own league. This is a biggie for me. I have tried every link possible and I can't find any way to do this. For example, if I click on the top team Triple A, it will give me next week's roster (Sep 27-Oct 3). There appears to be a link for other weeks, but when I click the current week, (Sep 20-Sep 26) I just get an error message. As far as ckecking the stats of individual players on teams outside of one's own league, it is impossible as far as I can tell. I think anybody should be able to check anyone else's teams for obvious reasons. On TQ, you can check everything on every team at all times. I would like to see the same thing here. I don't think that's unreasonable!

And to add on to what Nevadaman said; you should be able to type in a player's name and see what team he is on in every league, and if he's not, it should say free agent and you should be able to put a bid on him from there and not have to scroll through all the player's at that position. Also after putting in a bid for a player at a certain position, let's say pitcher, when you go to put in a continguency bid, it should not keep defaulting back to available catchers, it should default back to whatever position you just put a bid in for. I think you should also be able to sort by all available offensive players at every position and not just by their certain positions. Lastly, you still cannot print out transactions or free agents or many other things without having the adds cut off the last few lines of listed players. This stuff is pretty much standard on most stat company sites and I think STATS needs to get up to speed on this if they are going to be the stat company for next year.

Cellar, I agree with everything you said - with one exception. You are already able to check all position players at one time. Just check under "utility" and everybody will be listed!

As far as seeing every league's draft, way back in the beginning a link was provide for a spreadsheet which had every leagues complete draft. I saved it. It is that sheet that I used for several of my articles. You may have missed it. I'm not saying this is better but at least it was provided way back when.

You are correct, but one had to have excel which I didn't. Therefore, it was useless to me. I still think that all drafts should be on the site from the beginning of the year on.
