I was just wondering if the Rio was offering any special price, or at least holding rooms for us that weekend.

Yes, we have a very limited amount of rooms set aside for the NFBC, but the Rio seems to be honoring more than we've requested so far. Don't wait long to grab them for the weekend if you want to stay there. Our rate is $239 (I think) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday compared to $419. Yes, it's high, but it's the first round of the NCAA tournament and it's tough out there. You can certainly stay elsewhere if you'd like, but if you want to stay at the Rio, using the following info that can be found under the Las Vegas link on the home page:

Rio Hotel & Casino

3700 West Flamingo Road

702-777-7777

To secure a room at the Rio, use code number: S03FAN5.

Just don't play Blackjack at that burn joint. They have the absolute worst BJ rules for the player of any casino in Vegas.

I hope everyone in the NFBC has a very HAPPY new year. It is my hope that all of you finish 1st in all your endeavors for 2005. There is one exception and with that may you all tie for 2nd. Stay safe and I am looking forward to meeting you at the draft.

I just inquired about the Extended StayAmerica accomodations via phone (per a previous message board post). They are indeed right across the street from the Rio. The Thursday night rate is 59.99, Fri/Sat are 79.99. That is substantially less than the Rio of course. Has anyone ever stayed there before? Is it a total dump or is it okay if all you want to do is get a night's sleep?

Thanks! extendedstayamerica.com is the link.

Thanks! extendedstayamerica.com is the link. It's a motel6 type place, you'll get a decent room and a ton of college kids on spring break, but the price is right. Keep in mind your taxi bills about $12 a pop to and from anywhere you want to go... so plan that into your pricing.
