FA bid accepted??

Post by RichV » Mon Mar 28, 2005 11:58 am

I'm just looking at my league, NY Lg 2 and noticed an owner's FA bids were processed today! Unless I missed something, I thought we could start bidding today, and results would be posted Sunday evening for use in next week's games??

I am in New York #1 and I just got J Vasquez for $5. I like it but I am sure some one else doesn't. I was playing around to see how the process works and he is on my team already.

Ditto for my pick in the NY/Chi Mixed $650 league (although I placed a bid with conditional bids, and got my first player at a total cost of all of the bids placed - e.g. I palced a $5 bid, with 3 conditional bids of $2 each, and the system gave me the 1st player but charged me $11).

GCA, to compound the mess, Javier Vazquez should have been on Team 7's roster in League NY1. Boy, the errors keep on coming.

You know what really sucks..We all know what this guy in my league just bid for Juan Cruz and Gabe Gross. That's not right, and can't be fixed.

Why in the world would you guys put in bids so early? No good could possibly have come from submitting a bid before Tuesday, when everything was up and running.

Additionally, the lists that you are looking at now may not be the FINAL eligible list. If those players you are bidding on are sent down by Sunday night, the transaction will be null and void.

As I said I was just familiarizing myself with the system. I am glad I put a dummy bid in, others may not be so fortunate.

Same here K of Q. I didn't, wouldn't, place a bid until Saturday the earliest. I was just checking out the FA list and noticed someone in my league did bid, and needless to say, the result was not good for him.

Hey King of the Queens. Tell me where you read that it would be Tuesday before everything was up and running? And just so you know, anyone who is affiliated with a ML club is eligible. Regardless if they are sent down. Funny how quickly know-it-alls demonstrate how stupid they really are.

Steve- Don't place a bid unless you want everyone to know who your bidding on. The system is not working yet. Good to see Potter in mid- season form!!

Steve Don't place any bids until the bugs are fixed, but it's under the transactions heading on the main page, then click on free agents.

You should re-read the rules before you call me "stupid"

7. Free Agents: Any player who is not on a team roster within your league and is on a major-league roster or once was on an NFBC team in your league is considered a free agent for that league.

How can you expect to compete when you don't even know what the rules are?

Everyone please don't make any further bids until STATS gets this fixed. They're working on it. Thanks.

So we could draft a player not on a major league roster, but we can't pick one up as a free agent? Try again.

Potter, the only players you can pick up as free agents are players who are currently active on MLB rosters. For example, you can't pick up a minor league player unless he has been called up and is part of the active roster.

Seems you are correct. My bad. Just tell me where I can find the info about Tuesday, and I'll go on every board and every thread and tell them how smart you are.

Got it Tom. Thanks. I think this scenario is gonna cause a problem at some point this year. Players will be available in one league and not another. Seems to me you could save yourself a potential headache by allowing every player drafted in every league to be on the FA list for every league, regardless if a particular player was drafted in a particular league.

I did not hear about the free agent bidding process beginning Tuesday, but I heard about today.

The free agent period will begin around 5 p.m. Central time today. Until we get all of the rosters in every league finalized the process won't be up and running.

You're right--nothing was said about Tuesday. But did YOU see a post somewhere that everything was up and running? I may not be the greatest fantasy mind of our time, but don't you think it would have been smart to wait until all of the "bugs" were worked out before tipping your hand?

I'm still wondering how you expect to compete...

I'm pretty sure you can also pickup free agent minor leaguers if they were DRAFTED in that league, or if they were on a roster at one point during the year (i.e. via FAAB pickup).

But I could be wrong.

Like I was about waiting until Tuesday and not tipping my hand as far as who I am picking up this week....
