I think the Flamingo is an excellent choice to host the event. Perfect location with a slew of hotel choices within walking distance. I was considering staying at the Flamingo this year. I've never stayed there and was wondering what others thought of the rooms there. Greg? Or any other NFBC'ers who have stayed there before? Are the 'standard' rooms adequate? Or would you suggest upgrading to one of their nicer rooms?
I've stayed at the Bellagio, Caeser's, and the Barbary Coast and all of them were great. The only place on the strip that was disappointing, was the Riviera, the rooms there were....tired, somewhat depressing.

Stayed @ Flamingo last two trips, good hotel layout, nice workout room/spa but they do charge for it, wireless net in rooms, cafe is good. No reason to stay elsewhere considering easier access to the events.
Was in their newer "GO" rooms for NFFC. Flat panels throughout, including in the bathroom mirror. Kinda cool if you don't mind the bathroom having quasi-see thru glass walls and a sliding glass door. Booked their regular room this time (pretty standard but I think they've been revamped too) - didn't think the flat panels are worth $90 for my 3-night stay in the GO room.
Only downside is gambling, but that could be said for all of the strip hotels.

Greg, our room block this year is $189 per night on the weekend at the Flamingo, which is pretty good considering that ConExpo has a lot of hotels booked already. If you plan on staying somewhere else, book 'em early as that will be a wild weekend out there because of that construction conference.
I'm used to the Flamingo now, so I like it. It's in a great location on the Strip, the pool is among the best in Las Vegas and the restaurants are good. The sportsbook sucks big-time and I always play blackjack somewhere else, but somehow the place works for me. The rooms are what you need and like Kevin said you can upgrade if needed. Honestly, I think it's a worthy stop for what we all do in Vegas!!
I'm updating the city links and Schedule of Events now. To book at the Flamingo, just call registration and tell them you're with the National Fantasy Baseball Championship for the $189 rate. That's the only code you'll need this year.

I like the Flamingo, but I really think you should work with Harrah's and have them give you rates for all their hotels in LV like the Rio, Caesars, Ballys, Paris and all, so guys can choose the best fit for themselves.

Great idea John, I love staying at the Rio. Used to stay there all the time back when it was a bargain rate.

Thanks for the input Kevin and Greg. With the Wynn at $1350 per night that week, Caesars and Bellagio well over $500, those rates at the Flamingo are looking pretty good.
