A 1pt lead in wins in NY6 could be a 50pt lead in the overall. Apply this to all the categories and you can have the overall winner actually come in 2nd in his 15team league.

Even more simply put...

You are first in ERA in your league...you get 15 points. (15 teams)

You are first in ERA in the overall...you get 390 points. (390 teams)

Apply to each category, and your league means nothing vs. the overall standings.

Example, say in your 15 team league you have the league lead with 50 home runs, so you get 15 pts in HR. Say the guy in 2nd in your league in HR has only 25 homers, but he still gets 14 pts. The 1 pt advantage you get in league probably won't do much in you beating him in league.

However, in the overall standings, there's gonna be a lot of teams inbetween 25 and 50 home runs, so there'll be a much larger gap in Overall points given for HRs. So that extra gap you gain in the overall rankings may be enough for you to be ranked higher in the overall, where the 1 point advantage you gained in league wasn't enough to get you ahead in your league.

A while ago in the Internet version of the CDM Challenge game the Overall Winner (out of like 4000 teams) finished 2nd in his league (of 25 teams). Weird stuff can happen in Roto Standing leagues.
