I was in NY 7 also - our draft was very slow, so taking a break you could actually go check out other leagues and see what was happening 2 rounds ahead of us.
Don't see what the big deal is - just stay away from the tables - I don't want someone on my shoulder making comments while we are actually drafting.

Since Day 1, every draft is its own beast and each has its unique runs at different times.
IMO, it can't help at all. It can only throw you off YOUR draft.

My 2 cents
I remember people looking over the draft while it was going, I did not care for that much. Also some people had a runner who would go around and report back to tell where so and so went in the other drafts. It might help or it might not but I don't care for it. The only time it might help is if you see a sleeper on your list that was taken in round 17 in one draft and think to yourself that you better jump on him right away.
When we had our 2 breaks I took a look at the other drafts just to see how some guys were doing. I think that is fine. I just don't care for the guys who have someone watching drafts to help them in the draft.

Hooters now provides similar Fantasy Draft services. You get your pick of High School Drop Out, High School Grad, or Single mother of two. Part of the service includes getting you food and drinks during the drfat. They might not add any value to your draft, but they will certainly distract the other managers in your league.

We both stayed busy enough. I actually thought about the "hooters" distraction theory for a moment... and decided to go with the clerical support!!!
I was doing a mock draft trying to keep up using a single "overall" list and it just didn't work. This is great stuff indeed and I am impressed with all of the suggestions and confidence builders. It sounds like we won't have a problem keeping up in a live draft and I am looking forward to meeting some of you in Vegas!! Thanks

It is good to have a son helping you who does multiple leagues, both roto and auction. I pretty much handled the master hitting list and he does the pitchers and category situations. And while I am looking at potential choices, he is watching how others are drafting. In NY7 we had TWO teams doing a relief pitcher strategy. He advised me of what appeared to be happening in round 6.

I'd like to throw in my two cents about a problem we had with our draft last year (LV7). The person who ran our draft would walk up to each person and ask for his pick. Then, he would either not repeat the pick or repeat it inaudibly. This was a real problem as those of us far away from the board did not always know which player was being called and it detracted from my enjoyment of the event immensely. In fact we could often hear draft administrators from other tables calling out names (not a problem) while we could not hear our own (problem). Several of us talked to him about this during the break, but he did not change. Part of the problem was that he seemed unfamiliar with the players and didn't know how to pronounce their names correctly. He had to ask for Mariano Rivera's name to be repeated like four times.
Please take steps to ensure this kind of thing does not happen again.

Please take steps to ensure this kind of thing does not happen again. I heard that he knew the players just could not believe you were drafting them so early, so he assumed he heard it wrong. Come on Brian I at least had to jab you a little since we have now drafted and have to wait 6 weeks.

[/QUOTE]If you have any problems during the draft, come up to me and I'll switch the facilitators if I have to. We plan on being overstaffed in Vegas this year, so this shouldn't be a problem. If the facilitator isn't up to par, you know I'll do something about it. I walk the floor during the entire draft, so just grab me or another KP official and we'll get it done.

Hangtown, I've had my wife help me in drafts for years including last years NFBC. I've found that she's the perfect draft partner. She's great at marking things off lists.(must be all that shopping experience) She doesn't know one player from the other (she thinks Coco Crisp is a cereal.... oh wait a minute it is.) So she never tells me who I should pick. She doesn't drink. (one more drink ticket for me!) And after every draft she ALWAYS thinks I have the best team. ( this helps me to keep the illusion alive at least till the season starts). Also we're using her bonus from work to pay the entry fee this year. God I love that woman.
