i don't see how it hurts a league if Adenhart, scerzer, clement, etc...are available in the FAAB pool.

other owners are able to bid on them if they are drafted and dropped in their leagues!!!!!
[/QUOTE]Again, I appreciate the debate on this subject and there are merits on both sides. This is more a discussion of ideas than a debate on who is right and who is wrong.

To answer your question above, keeping EVERY single minor-leaguer in your league free agent pool diminishes the value of FAAB during the regular season. Since this is a no-trade league, the only recourse during the season to improving an injury-riddled team or a poor start team is to add free agents. And it's not always the veteran free agents who make the difference. As we all know, it's the hot prospects like Ryan Bran, Hunter Pence and now this year Max Scherzer and Jeff Clement, et al, who receive the highest bids. They are the "hope" if you will for all teams needing a transfusion. Allowing everyone who chose not to draft these guys the same shot at them when they are called up is the fairest way to present this.

Everyone started with the same amount of FAAB. Everyone is balancing their FAAB appropriately knowing that they get the same shot at hot prospects during the course of the season. Everyone had a shot at drafting these guys originally and stashing them on their reserve rosters for as long as they wanted. Everyone either passed on them knowingly or saw someone in their league grab them and maybe cut them later, giving them a first chance to "stash" them via FAAB.

As for what is more important, winning the league or the overall, the contest is set up for both. EVERY owner had a shot at EVERY pro player on Draft Day. If after 450 picks, every owner passed on a player who starts the season in the minors, then EVERY owner has a shot at him when he's called up to the majors. It's just going to cost a little more FAAB to get him than if he were in the player pool earlier.

Why do I allow a Scherzer to remain in a league where he was drafted and then cut? Why don't I pull him out of that league? Because if you were targeting him in the 30th round and another owner grabbed him ahead of you and then was too impatient to keep him, shouldn't you then have a second chance to pick him up in your league? Why should you be penalized again? And if he's in the minors at the time of his availability via FAAB, you have the same tough decision to make that other leagues will have to make down the road. It's just that the FAAB totals will likely be different.

Again, solid discussion. The overall contest is the main focus for most owners and the game is set up for everyone to excel and have access to the same pool of players. Acquiring them via FAAB just may cost a bit more for some leagues this week, that's all.
