Week Zero and FAAB questions

Last year there were two games in the Land of the Rising Sun. This year, baseball came to their senses as they put a team in our nation's capital (some may consider this a questional decision but not me with tickets to 25+ games) and decided to start the season in the USA. The ESPN Sunday night game is on April 3 with Red Sox nation facing the Evil Empire - nice start. The next day finds ten games being played. Questions:

1. Will the single Sunday game be a week unto itself like last year with lineups set the Sunday before (or maybe later in the week). If so, then I presume lineups can be set again for games beginning on Monday.

2. When will the initial FAAB happen? I know you have a means to "force" legal lineup for that first week but didn't we have a FAAB round on the weekend before the series in Japan? With my advanced years, the memory fails me.

From Tom in one of last weeks chats

1. We're looking into that situation to see how STATS will handle it. Last year with the games overseas that was considered as its own week so it's possible the Sunday game will be considered to be a separate week. We'll check with STATS to see how they have that set up.

2. FAAB bidding will begin on the second Sunday after the NFBC draft. In other words, the draft will be on Saturday and FAAB bidding will begin 8 days later on that Sunday.

Just to let you guys know we're waiting to hear back from STATS as to how they plan to handle that Sunday game. We'll let you know when we find out.

I had a phone conversation with STATS yesterday on this and we're trying to resolve this. There is one Sunday night game on April 3, the Yankees and the Red Sox, which we originally wanted to make as part of Week 1. But obviously that screws up two things: Our first FAAB period ends that night just before the game, and 2) starting lineups don't need to be set until Monday. It's possible that game will be a Week Zero setting, but we're still evaluating the programming needed for that. We should have an answer soon.

There is really nothing wrong with a week zero.

Imagine have RJ who throws 8 shutout innings with 12 Ks and then having your closer throw a perfect inning for the save. On a 300 top, you would have 293 points in Ks, Wins, & Saves. The only thing stopping you from a 293 in ERA & WHIP would be all those teams that had no pitchers going.
