Hi Greg A., For newcomers in the league this yearcould you give us a few examples of what free agents went for last year? This would give us a jump start on the learning curve. Thanks, Mike Duggan

Here's one sample of a week of FA bids from last year:

You can find others on this very board if you want

how does the blind bidding work. Highest bid gets the player or is it $1 higher than the 2nd highest bid. I have seen league work it both ways. Example, I bid $86 for player A and the next highest bid is $62, do I get him for $86 or for $63

i guess part two of the question would be is there a limit on number of free agents you can acquire a week? duggan

There is no limit. You have to drop someone for every one you add, though. The system also allows for conditional bids.

A typical week you might submit bids that end up looking something like this:

Transaction A:

Drop Aaron Harang

Bid $47 Mike Maroth

conditional $31 Kyle Lohse

conditional $11 Jason Dubois

conditional $4 Gary Matthews Jr.

Transaction B:

Drop Mike Matheny

Bid $11 Gerald Laird

Bid $4 Todd Greene

You can set as many conditionals as you want, so it's a pretty easy system to get used to and use.

Good luck

Dave

How are ties handled?

Tie goes to lowest ranking team? That's how the NFBC did it...

Dyv, you answered every question correctly. Thanks. Just too busy to check everything.

For all newbies, we listed every week's winning FAAB bids for each NFBC league in the General Discussion thread. If you go to General Discussion and use the pulldown in the upper right hand corner that says "show posts for the last year" you'll get about 13 pages of threads. Go to those that start in April and you'll find the winning bids each Monday. Just go back in time and you'll see every top winning bid. It might be a little work, but you'll see how players went differently in each league and how the bidding was very intense early in the year.

I hope this helps.
