You can make all of your FAAB bids on your team page. If there are players who should be available in your league but aren't please let Greg or myself know via e-mail and we'll contact STATS and get them added. Thanks.

Where do you bid on free agents?

Post by ZoinksScoob » Thu Mar 31, 2005 7:29 pm

I must be brain-dead, because when I go to "Transactions", all I get are player lists and stats, but no way to actually make a FAAB bid. Is it hidden there? Could someone please give step-by-step instructions as to how to make FAAB bids, how to make them conditional, etc.? Thanks!

Nope, you're correct - the system to 'bid' on the free agent is gone right now. I can find the lists, but under the right hand column where it says 'action' there is no button to enter bids.

Greg/Tom - need this fixed ASAP!

Ditto.

Very difficult situation for those of us who may be out of town this weekend.

Kind of a Catch-22. Don't want to do free agents early, because STATS revealed those bids. Don't want to wait too late, because the site (at least for the past 12 hours) won't allow any bids.

Greg/Tom, this ought to be rectified, immediately.

Well, now that we can make bids... how do we make them conditional? For example, I bid $75 for Player A, but if I don't get him, then I bid $75 for Player B, and if I don't get him, then I want to promote Player C from Reserve to take Player D's place, etc.

put in a bid on your first free agent. Then click on "Transactions", "Free Agents" (or just wait for the next screen to load after you submit your bid)

Then you'll notice towards the top of that page your existing bid is listed. Now click on 'add conditional' and choose another player, submit taht bid and you'll see the stack forming on your free agents page

Oh, and there's no laddering your roster moves into the bidding system. Those are two different items and two different functions. Put in your bids, then come back to 'set roster' after bids are processed.

Dyv, what would I do without you? When I'm getting my beauty sleep, you're always covering my back by answering these questions. I guess that's why I look so beautiful and you look so......well....like a Dyv! :D

Thanks for the help and good luck everyone in this first FAAB period.

Dyv, thanks for the info... I genuinely appreciate it.

One other question. Let's say that I want to put in an FAAB bid on Player A to replace player B on my reserve roster, then promote Player B to my active roster to replace Player C.

BUT... if I don't get Player A through FAAB, then I simply want to promote Player D from my reserve roster to replace Player C.

How would you do that?

Thanks again!

Thanks again! Not a problem Scoob.

What you're describing can't be done by the system. You have a bidding function and then you have a set roster function.

Your waiver bids might look like this:

Drop Bobby Higginson

Add: Carlos Beltran $134

Conditional Add: Barry Bonds $14

Conditional Add: Alex Rodriguez $13

Conditional Add: Jim Thome $3

In this transaction (if possible) the player you acquire is put in the same spot as the one you drop. That is if you were to win Beltran or Bonds in this stack of bids they would go right into your OF to replace Bobby. If you were to win Arod or Thome they would go directly to your bench as they can't be OF eligible.

You HAVE to go back to your lineup after waivers clear Sunday at around 6pm EST (approximately) and make sure you have a legal roster for Monday before gametime.

Hope that helps.

Dyv, I think you described it perfectly. Basically, I have to wait until after the waiver period is over but BEFORE the start of Monday's games to make that secondary move, if necessary.

Sounds good... again, thanks for your help. It is GENUINELY appreciated!
