2 days...a new mark of utter stupidity

Post by Cherokee Nation » Fri Mar 03, 2006 6:42 am

I'd like to thank Jose Guillen for establishing a new mark for my teams....becoming disabled for half the season a mere 48 hours after I've drafted him. The fact that he hid the injury, ala Keith Foulke ( the guy who ruined my team last season ) makes this losers injury even more special. I suppose Guillen could have just quit, but that wouldn't have been unusual for us, having drafted Raul Mondesi 2 seasons ago.

Maybe I should have also drafted Bonds, who is destined to go on the DL because he can't see from the steroid fat on his face covering his eyes, or Alfonso Soriano who has severe allergic reactions to major league outfields.....but no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get all of the losers in baseball on my team......there's just too many losers in baseball to fill a single team.

But through hard work and dedication I do manage to procure more than my share of complete and total losers for my team. There should be a trophy or money prize involved.

The tropy could read..."Go Foulke Yourself"

Look at the good side. I'm sure you got him later in the draft than I got Javon Walker in last years football draft or Steve Smith the year before that.

I know this stinks, but good luck anyway. More injuries for more players to follow. Bank on it.

OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

That's true....

but did Walker have an injury he was hiding

Did you draft Walker and then find out he was hiding an injury

like Foulke and Guillen

I think that's the part of it that gets me the most...2 seasons in a row I've drafed players who were already hurt, because they hid their injuries.

It's bad enough when they get hurt AFTER you draft them....but this is worse, much worse.

Forgot to mention earlier.... Coco Crisp's "season ending injury" we endured last season. 2 weeks after we cut him due to his "season ending injury" his doctors decided he wasn't actually hurt after all. How nice.

Enough of the freak stuff already

Cherokee, it must be the stress of the up-coming draft getting to you. This is after all, nothing more then a game. Games are supposed to be fun. You have got to relax and enjoy the game for what it is.

Absolutely, there is an element of fun in it, but I don't lay down hundred's or thousand's of dollars, not to see a return on my investment.

Cherokee, bad break before first pitch, hopefully you'll work the waiver wire to your advantage...good luck.

That's what happens when the greed for fun...outweighs the need for information!

Wait, wait, wait...untill drafting...if it's worth more than a few bucks!

and by the way, it is well known that Guillen has been injured since late last year - just the severity was unknown.

Maybe you should have sent your team doctor to examine him first ;)

Yo Cherokee - reprieve (perhaps)

"VIERA, Fla. -- Jose Guillen and the Washington Nationals got the diagnosis they wanted.

The Nationals learned Saturday that Guillen will not require surgery on his injured left wrist, one day after the right fielder was thought to be out for three months.

Guillen was diagnosed Friday with damaged tendons in his left wrist after taking an MRI on Thursday. Dr. Edward St. Mary, a hand specialist who examined Guillen's hand, recommended surgery.

After a second opinion, however, Guillen instead will be given an injection in his wrist, which will the immobilized for about one week. The right fielder will then be able to begin baseball-related rehabilitation."

Hummmm....Guillen goes out opinion shopping and finds a doc to give him what he wants...what the heXX...a sore wrist shouldn't impact a power hitter in a pitchers park...Nahh! I am not going to move him down one notch in my draft rankings...he is good to go!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
