I'd be very interested to hear some of the brightest nfbc minds (Childs, Gillis, my mentor, etc.) weigh in on their perspective of the number three pick. I haven't read anything making a strong case on who to take after Arod and Pujols. During his chat, Shandler proclaimed he'd go after a hitter that helps in all five catergories- Abreu and Lee were specifically mentioned. In my sattelite draft last Tuesday, Santanna was taken #3. Lets hear everyone's thoughts...

The King I WOULD LOVE THE 3RD PICK.I have TEIXEIRA right behind the big 2.He's in the best hitters park in baseball , he's young , not injury prone, and he hit 300 last year , he's going to be a stud in everything but steals, and he could go up their too, maybe 8 to 10.I dont think LEE will do what he did again , especially bavg and hr's. If VLAD can stay healthy , he's right their too, BUT 2 of the last 3 years he's been hurt ,394 at bats in 2003 , and a bunch of missed games last year.I like SANTANA but not 3rd.Always take the hitter , i found out the hard way. [jason schimdt pick 14 in the ultimate]
I hope i helped , ild go big TEX.

He's just asking for some opinions, after the top 2 you could go 7 differnt ways, he has what i think ,maybe a couple other guys think different, i myself do like to hear other roto guys thoughts. If you ask the top 20 guys on this question , you will get a bunch of different answers. Then he will realize to go with eddiejag and make the right pick. lol.

Just trying to stir up some strategy conversation. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on who the 3rd most valuable player in the NFBC is. I know there isn't a consensus...

I'm with Eddie. Tish looks like a clear #3 to me. But I am sure at least half the draft boards come 3/18 will have another name there. And the names Eddie mentioned are the possibles. Vlad, Lee and Santana are the choices. I'd be suprised if more than a handful of drafts have any of those 6 names available when it's time for #7 to pick. Santana is the most likely slider if picks 3-6 are dead set against taking a sp.

Was at Shandler's Fast Pitch Forum yesterday in NJ. Interesting your mention Derrek Lee as a number 3 pick.
One of his "50 Ways to Win Your League" topics was FIVE NO-BRAINER DRAFT PICKS YOU MIGHT WANT TO THINK TWICE ABOUT. They were -
#5 Jason Bay
#4 David Wright
#3 DERREK LEE
#2 Beckett/Burnett
#1 Felix Hernandez
Just thought I'd pass that along.

Just thought I'd pass that along. Interesting in his chat here he seemed pretty high on Bay, and I do not have the forecaster in front of me but he seemed to love Wright.

That's comparable to those gambling advice sites that guarantee winners a la the "golden nugget" selection. Half the people they give one team in the game; half the people the opposing team. Half the people win and they are suckered to coming back for more...at a bigger price. Go with your gut like Brown, formerly of FEMA, and not Bush, err Benson.
It's all for laughs

His thought process on Bay, Wright and Felix was that there is not enough of a track record for them to qualify as a "sure thing".
I didn't think the topic was warranted - you could find something wrong with every single player out there.
I will be a little disappointed if he comes back with an "I told you so" on Bay or Wright if they don't produce since he is projecting better seasons for both of them.
Hernandez gets a reliability factor of ZERO and his projections for '06 are not great. So if Felix is the next Doc Gooden, he may have to eat some crow.

Yet another high-brow comedy that women just can't seem to get!

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
