I'm in the NFBC $100K league and have the first draft slot. Since I have two picks back to back wondered if I have 1 minutes and 59 seconds to make two picks where as most draftee's must select poick in 60 seconds ?

tx, Officially, you would be allowed to pass once to yourself, but if you did it again you'd pass to the next team. I'm not sure the other guys in your league would be pleased if you kept doing that, but the rules don't say anything other than if you go past one minute you pass to the next person.

You could go the whole minute at the 15 pick and pass to yourself. You then get one minute at the 16 pick comning back. After that minute, I believe you only have like 10 seconds to make the "makeup" selection. After 10 seconds, then the 17th pick is on the clock and you get another 10 seconds after his selection.

If a participant does not make a selection in the allotted time, he is passed over until the next participant makes a player selection. The passed-over participant follows after the next person's pick and again has one minute to make his/her pick. All decisions by the league facilitator are final.

Last year when I picked # 15 I was told I had to make 1 pick after 60 seconds and then could move to my next 60 seconds and pick my next choice. I could not use 120 seconds before announcing both of my picks.

What exactly was the violation KOQ? 60 seconds per pick when you have back to back picks is not a violation the way I see it.

This statement makes it pretty clear that the person picking 1st and 15th has a full two minutes to make their first selection. You'd probably get knocked around a bit after the draft, but it's well within the rules.

No KOQ, I disagree that they get 2 full minutes to do their two picks. The rules have obviously changed from last year. The rules indicate you get 1 minute to make each pick. They need to announce their first pick after 1 minute.

Re-read this paragraph -- there are several possible "abuses" of this rule. Here are two:



(1)(a) "If a participant does not make a selection in the allotted time, he is passed over until the next participant makes a player selection." The next participant is the SAME person. Therefore, an owner drafting 1st or 15th can take up to 120 seconds to make his first selection.



(1)(b) "The passed-over participant follows after the next person's pick and again has one minute to make his/her pick." Again, in the case of the owner drafting 1st or 15th, the passed-over participant is the SAME person. Thus, he has an additional 60 seconds (after the first name he called out has been placed on the board) to make his second pick.



Total time for two picks: 3 minutes (plus the time to place the sticker on the board



(2) "Each participant who selects a player who no longer is available will get an additional 15 seconds by the draft facilitator to select a new player and if that participant again selects someone who is off the board his/her turn will be skipped and they will be allotted a full minute to make another selection after the next team's selection has been made."



So teams actually have 1 minute and 15 seconds to make a pick. All they have to do is say "Alex Rodriguez" and the clock is extended 15 seconds.



(3) Using a combination of (1) and (2), a team drafting 1st or 15th could very easily have 3 minutes, 30 seconds to make their two picks.



Here's more food for thought: the rule states that the clock is extended 15 seconds if you mention someone who has already been selected. If you say another name that's already been selected, the next participant gets to pick. Theoretically, a team picking 1st or 15th could use all of their time, then right before their 60 seconds are up, say "Alex Rodriguez (pause) Albert Pujols," and pass the pick back to themselves. This process could be repeated for hours, if not days.

Is this really worth all this thought? I think that this an obvious abuse of the INTENT of the rules so I am sure that your fellow owners would harrass you if you pulled this kind of stunt during the real draft...

Agreed -- slow day at the office yesterday. I would never actually pull a stunt like this, and I hope that no one actually would. Besides, there's always the "facilitator has final say" clause that would eliminate such B.S.

I agree we should be prepared...but 60 seconds!!!



I did the online sattelite at 90 sec...and on the turn to boot..and it was very fast.



This isn't a race...why not 2 minutes?



Get the darn sticker folks to become more efficient...that kills the most time.

Satellite league shows you can update your line-up every three days. I thought the rules for active line-up changes were once a week. Clarification please!!!
