Greg,

A player, B. Wickman, was released in the Ulitimate Auction league on Sunday. Is he going to be removed from the pool?

When we draft a team we balance , knowing no trading is allowed. When a closer loses his job, that's the breaks, but when a closer is just dropped because the owner no longer cares about that category-- then the competitive landscape has changed.

Mike, we're not going to be pulling Wickman out of the free-agent pool. While we will make certain decisions in extreme matters we don't believe Wickman falls under that criteria and so we are going to allow his drop to stand and he will remain in the FAAB pool in that league.

Mike Mike, I understand what you're saying about Wickman, but I think we are going to see certain closers dropped in the NFBC from time to time as teams realize that they have no chance to move up in certain categories and need more help in other categories. If that means dropping the top saves guy, then we'll allow the drop and take that top talent out of that league's free agent pool. We couldn't fairly let a Bobby Jenks be cut in mid-season. Wickman is a different case as it's possible he could lose his job as he struggles a bit for the Indians. Joe Borowski was also cut in a different NFBC league last week and we allowed that move. We realize that finding saves at mid-season in the free agent pool is unexpected, but it's not a cut that we feel needs to be intercepted.
