Last year, we could not draft minor leaguers but there was a short list of players who were eligible to be drafted. Will there be such a list this year? When will it be developed? Also, are we able to draft anyone on the 40 man roster or only the 25 man roster?

According to the rules:



2. Draft: Players will be selected from all 30 Major League Baseball rosters and any player from any MLB organization is eligible to be drafted.



Not covered in this rule is whether players such as Roger Clemens are eligible to be drafted. Based on the specific language contained in the rules, I would say that he is ineligible.

Unless they have changed this again, the pool of players that can be drafted is those on their team's 40 man rosters + whatever free agents that Greg & Tom put on the "available" list. That will certainly include Clemens as it did last year. Not sure how much in advance the lists will be available but Greg/Tom will either post them or a link here when it is finalized.

They did change it -- no more 40-man restrictions. Thus, you can draft the 2007 version of Jered Weaver or Cole Hamels.



The rules should be amended to reflect the forthcoming Greg/Tom list.

You are correct, the wording here doesn't include unsigned free agents. I guess I'll have to add another sentence, but unsigned free agents have always been eligible to be drafted or picked up in auction leagues in the past and will be allowed again in 2007. I guess I'll need to make a note within the rules to cover myself on this one.

I'm going to draft a deep sleeper in the 30th round: Greg Ambrosius. Last I heard. he was still an unsigned free agent.

2. Draftable Players: The NFBC is allowing all players to be selected on Draft Day as we are NOT limiting eligible players to 40-man rosters in 2007. Even unsigned veterans and low minor-leaguers are eligible to be drafted in 2007.



3. A more flexible DL list: The NFBC will again allow Friday lineup changes to any player who is in your starting lineup and is officially on MLB's DL list by Friday at 12:01 a.m. The new rule allows for NFBC officials to be flexible with that DL list: Players must officially be on Major League Baseball's DL list according to STATS and the NFBC by 12:01 a.m. on Friday for this move (or moves) to take effect for the weekend games. The NFBC will also add players who are disabled to a DL list during the month of September when MLB teams don't normally use an official DL list.



4. The main event is projected to fill 360 spots, up from 330 in 2006.

One additional note on the failure to reach the minimum inning count should be noted. I believe that while the offending team gets all 1's, no other team has their numbers improved just because they ranked behind the offending team. It will be asked so you just as well end the discussion early

It was discussed on these boards prior to last season, and the rules should reflect that other teams do not move up the standings as a results of the "1's".

I can explain this better within the rules and will do that this week.
