MLB.com lists Utley on DL. Not listed on team page yet and can't make a line-up change for the weekend. Stats will catch up?
I just don't know when the first game is tomorrow and would be easier to do tonight than hope I can get in front of the PC before a 12p or 1pm start somewhere tomorrow.

Damn!
Solid selection for even a mid first round pick.
Too bad we will now look worse than we should for selecting him.
He's for real.
Damn inside pitching...they should beat up pitchers like the old days when they get thrown at.
(Need to see the video...jus BS'in!)

i just checked utley's status in STATS. NO DL icon next to his name. unfortunatley, he can't be effectively changed out till monday.

Even ESPN had changed him to DL last night.

I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, ESPN's site has no bearing on STATS site.

I thought at a certain time on Thusrday Night or early friday morning they checked for Dl players. Utley was put on the DL by the team some time yesterday.

Yes, u are correct. Stats checks it at midnight yesterday.
My take is that utley wasn't officially put on the DL, even though some site reported it. That scenario happens quite a bit actually.
I read a newspaper article saying that utley wasn't going to be put on the DL until friday and the phillies would activate brett myers in his place

Isn't that the one STATS is supposed to go by?
Isn't that "official" for MLB?

I'm not trying to argue with you, but STATS is the site we use.
I don't see anything about mlb.com in the rules. Mlb.com and nfl.com have been known to have errors on their websites

Also, I didn't imply that WE use MLB.com. My implication is that MLB.com is the site THEY use, isn't it? So if it was there, and it was, should we be held at bay due to an internal oversight?
There were a number of STATS goofs that were difficult to correct (i.e. eligiblity, etc)because they were after the fact. This was brought to the administration's attention in advance and there is still time to get it right.
At least check to see where the dicrepency is. Was he not on the DL, or did STATS not catch it?
I think its that simple. I've seen a number of STATS goofs overturned and/or corrected.
Greg,...feel free to weigh in here.

Jim, STATS uses MLB's official DL list as of midnight on Thursday and goes off of that. While he was reported on the DL on MLB.com and other fantasy sites, he obviously wasn't officially on the MLB DL list as of our deadline so he's not allowed to be disabled for this weekend's games. It's easy to report that Utley will be going on the DL, especially when he breaks a bone during a Thursday game, but it takes time for officially putting that player on the DL.
Don't blame STATS as they are only taking the information from MLB and applying it to our game. I trust he will officially be put on the DL today, although it won't help out our players for this weekend. But we've set the hard deadline of midnight so that you don't have to wait all day Friday to find out when he officially goes on the DL.

Best Wishes for a speedy recovery to the Utley owners out there. A lot of speculation on these boards preseason about him being a legit top ten player. I had the 6th pick and passed on him and should have taken him. You all got it right with him while alot of us missed him and now you get screwed by a freak injury- that sucks.

The Phillies web site has an article with him on DL at 07/26/2007 9:24 PM ET

2) What ever happened to the rule where it didn't matter and that you could manually override the system? (like you did for Hughes earlier and posted on MB)

Spy This happens all year long for everyone. Is it because he is a big name player?
This happened a couple of weeks ago with Bill Hall. I don't anyone even mention it. Those are the breaks and everyone has the same problem.

~Lance [/QUOTE]i hear ya lance.
at a time where i'm hoping to get brett myers and ian kinsler back, others are watching utley go down. it's crazy...all the twists and turns of a baseball season.
let's hope myers and kinsler will be enough to capture the crown.

Here is a copy of the transactions list from the MLB.com website - anyone can go there and see for themselves - Utley is listed as going on the DL on July 26, 2007 - yesterday! He should be put on the DL on Stats and eleigible to be moved to the bench today. This is just wrong.
From MLB.com:
7/26/07 Boston Red Sox
Signed OF Brady Clark to a minor league contract.
Cincinnati Reds
Placed IF Pedro Lopez on the 15-day disabled list and activated IF Juan Castro from the 15-day disabled list.
Kansas City Royals
Purchased the contract of RHP Jason Shiell from Triple-A Omaha.
Minnesota Twins
Transferred OF Josh Rabe to the 60-day disabled list and purchased the contract of 3B Brian Buscher from Triple-A Rochester.
New York Mets
Optioned RHP Joe Smith to Triple-A New Orleans and purchased the contract of RHP Jon Adkins from New Orleans.
New York Yankees
Announced C Wil Nieves cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Philadelphia Phillies
Placed 2B Chase Utley on the 15-day disabled list.
Washington Nationals
Optioned RHP Chris Booker to Triple A-Columbus and selected the contract of LHP John Lannan from Triple-A Columbus.

this is directly from the Phillies team site via mlb.com. notice the date (FRIDAY)...

"Second baseman Chase Utley was placed on the 15-day disabled list today after having successful surgery on the fourth metacarpal in his right hand. He had a pin inserted into the hand during the 20-minute surgery that was performed this morning by Dr. Randall Culp at Methodist Hospital. Utley's expected recovery time is up to four weeks."

mlb.com has historically not listed a player as on the DL unless he was actually put on.
I check this site almost everyday, and while rotoworld goes out of it's way to manufacture false DL reports, I've never seen that on mlb.com.
I even posted a link to the phillies.com site that said he was placed on the DL. Not "reported." Not "will be."
On top of all this, Greg put Hughes on NFBC DL May 3rd and he had not been placed on MLB DL yet.
I've been way to busy the last few months, but I recall Greg saying that he'd manually override DL moves not made by Stats on time, like the Hughes move.
