Possibly a dumb question and possibly one that can be answered by reading the rules, but here we go anyway.

When joining a satellite league where you win a free entry to next years event for winning, do you actually get the money and have to get a 1099 or do you just get your name put on a list and get automatically entered the following season in the main?

You don't get the money, but you do get a 1099 for the value of the entry.

Thanks KJ and that sucks. Was hoping there was a way to just make the money imaginary as if neither party ever had it. LOL

HH No, there isn't a 1099 or W-9 needed for the free entries. If you win that, we enter you into next year's event. You win a free entry. Give it a try and good luck.

Let me know if there's any confusion here.

Greg, how do you handle free entries for next year - do W9's need to be submitted and non-cash winnings reported, or would this just reduce cost basis to zero for next season if the free entry leads to a cash prize?

Sorry for any confusion there Kevin but just to be clear - we don't need W9s if you have won a free entry.

Next newbie question- Player eligibility. Given the rule is 20 games, if a player (Amezaga) plays 18 games at SS and 11 games at 2b, does he qualify at MI? Seems like they should...

Nope, 20 games played at a position is needed to qualify there to start the 2008 season. You can't combine 2B-SS or 1B-3B to qualify at MI and CI, respectively.

I never thought about that.

Does seem like that would make him a "true" middle infielder, though.

In the XFL, we actually give MI eligibility to such a player. The XFL is an industry keeper league in which Greg and I are combatants -- though Greg wisely enlisted the aid of some NFBCers before our draft a couple of weeks ago and has assembled a decent squad while I was off my game big time.

So what does he qualify at, UT only?

We(my keeper league) would make him as a SS and a MI since he played the majority of his games as a SS and did combine to play 20 at the MI positions. But that is our league, not the NFBC.

He played 91 games in the OF so he is OF only.

Well then that makes it easy. I assumed( I know never ass u me) based on the post that was all he did was play MI. Oops
