I know we've gone back and forth on the boards as to when players are actually activated (either from minors or DL)and you've always held that players may not be actually on the DL when other web sites (including MLB.com) reports it, and that STATS is the final say.
BJ Ryan was obviously activated and actually pitched, yet STATS still reports him on the DL.
Obviously STATS is not getting the info processed in real time. I PM'ed you tonight trying to pick up another player how he was reportedly activated yesterday and played today. Not available per STATS.
Nothing we can do about this?

I dont understand this question. Did u want to activate him today? We cant activate guys who came off DL any day except by Friday, effective for Fridays games. As for moving him up to be active starting Monday, you can do that whether he is on DL or not.

No, I didn't want to activate him. I was using it as an example of STATS being late in updating eligibility. What I wanted to do was put a bid in on someone else that was apparently activated on Saturday.
My frustration is that Greg keeps assuring us that because we read it elsewhere, it doesn't mean its official and that STATS gets the "official" word out there in a timely manner.
Well I think when Ryan took the mound on Sunday and we were still reading "DL" we could have probably have considered it official.

how about this: stats shuts down on eligability at 8:00 am. ryan gets activated at 11:00 am and pitches that night. the next day at 8:00 am he is off the dl- which he is now. he came off the dl after friday for sure- so EXACTLY what difference did/does it make? and yes i own ryan. it happens, live with it

Well I think when Ryan took the mound on Sunday and we were still reading "DL" we could have probably have considered it official. STATS gets its data directly from Major League Baseball and then updates its player lists that include the NFBC. I understand the B.J. Ryan example you cited. As for Jeff Niemann, he obviously was added to the Rays' roster at some point over the weekend, but for our purposes he wasn't in the free agent pool by 7 a.m. Sunday and thus he wasn't allowed to be bid on this week. He will be available this week and everyone will have the chance to bid on him this week.
I understand there is some frustration with the early FAAB deadline, but we're all playing under the same guidelines and thus a guy like Niemann will be available this week for everyone. In the past, he might have been added by STATS at 1 or 2 on Sunday afternoon and some folks may have "found him" well after others gave up on Sunday. This will happen from time to time this year, but at least everyone won't have to spend all day Sunday waiting for someone like Niemann to get added to the player pool.
Was STATS late in adding him this week? Well, apparently the Rays didn't officially make this move with Major League Baseball until late Saturday or early Sunday. Or it just took too long for STATS to get that info from MLB. Either way, he didn't make the player pool for Week 3. Good luck the rest of the way.

I looked for Niemann in all my leagues in case someone drafted and dropped him. I saw he was picked up in an Ult. League. I think it is a great rule to have an early cutoff time. In years passed if he was added Sunday afternoon, some teams might miss him, as they have lives.
