DL Question

Post by Hard Heads » Sun Apr 13, 2008 5:53 pm

Curious if this has ever been asked or not and what the answer may have been. We have the Friday DL rule where if a player is placed on the DL prior to Friday's games starting you can put someone in his place, so long as lineup requirements are met. My question is why can't we do this in reverse where a player coming off the DL late in the week can be added into your lineup when activated? Just curious as what the answer to this question might be.

Thanks

Thanks Yes, this was asked to me a few times this weekend, in fact!! The purpose of the Friday DL rule was to give NFBC owners some production during the week when a team suddenly puts a player on the DL on Monday or Tuesday, early in the week when you get 0 production from that player for 7 days. If he gets hurt that early in the week, the team will then put him on the DL before Friday and at least you'll get three days of production from a reserve player.

The reason we don't do it in reverse is because you obviously know when your DL player is going to come off the disabled list. And if that's by Thursday or Friday, well, then you had the chance to activate him at the beginning of the week and get 3-4 games out of him. If we allow the reverse, then you're getting 3-4 days out of a healthy reserve player plus the 3-4 days out of your DL player. That would be an ideal way to deal with an injury, but unfortunately we all have to make tough decisions with these valuable starting spots and in this case you have to make the tough decision at the beginning of the week to start one or the other.

Good luck this week.
