This is probably proof positive that I have too much time on my hands, but if I go to the live standings right now a whole bunch of teams have a + or - .5, thus changing their score from last night. What makes this unusual is that it is 11AM and no games have been played yet. Are these changes correct? Does this happen every day? Are teams being credited with stats they never actually earned?

I think now it is due to the number of decimal places the rate stats are carried out. The overnight standings seem to account for more decimal spaces whereas the live standings count them as a tie after a certain point.

It's simply due to the fact that "live" standings use rounded numbers for whip, era, and average, and the "official" standings page calculates based on the exact numbers.



So when you click on "live standings" right now, before the games have started, those are now "ties" and that's why you see all those 1/2 pt +/-.

Live standings calculates on what you see, official standings calculates exact number.

And this really sucks in LV3, because there are so many tight races in those three cats, and it's going to suck at the end of the year, because someone os going to think the "live" standings are correct, and they are NEVER 100% correct.

The daily standings use more decimal points but don't show them. The live standings don't use them. Ideally, they would work the same. UFS is correct that there could be some seriously disappointed owners between the end of the last game of the season and the standings update, I think is the biggest issue.

Yesterday, I had a league where the final live and the updated standings were 1.5 points off due to these ties. I had to tweak several FAAB amounts just now because of this.



In every league I'm in, 2-7 owners are watching live stats at any one time. It boggles the mind that not having them 100% correct is not important.



How hard is it to carry out a decimal one more place? :rolleyes:



Especially when it's already done on the standings link correctly.



Each one of us is off by 1/2 point here.

Which way is it off? Will we ever know?

first, I don't know what your reply was to Greg's question on increasing the decimals on live stats but that did seem like response.



second, except for Sunday September 28, I don't see how it really matters. A bigger impact can be an error changed to a hit when five unearned runs are converted to earned runs or vice-versa. On September 28th, if you are still in that tight a race in any percentage category, I suspect you will have an active spreadsheet going to follow the results almost pitch by pitch.

Yeah, not sure that this is a big deal. If you are tied in a category and you need verification then grab a handy dandy calculator. I think that is easy enough.

I suspect you live in la la land where you pay $1300 for a team and it's acceptable to have a scenario where 80% of the time, the standings are not correct. Along with constant evaluation, I and many, many others enjoy the live standings. They need to be 100% correct at all times, not just 20% of the time.



Your Sept 28 scoring change is irrelevant to this discussion, so thanks for nothing.



This is an incredibly easy fix that has been swept under the rug three times. Two threads and an e-mail to stats a month ago.

If you have more than one team, and try to click on "view another team" option, it switches to a different league's live standings. So viewing another team also in any of my leagues is never an option.



Also, why should I have to do that? Do we need to spend more for correct stats? Why is this so much to ask? And why is it so acceptable that wrong is OK?

I can only ask STATS to make this change like you and hope they do it during the season or make the request at season's end as I change we MUST make before 2009. YOu know that and your frustration is at my provider, I trust.



It's not being ignored by me, but I can't program this change. Feel free to copy and paste this post to our contact as you did before and then let all know if this gets updated. Just be specific who you're ripping next time.

I just think it'd be really good to make sure it happens before the last day of the season so that someone doesn't celebrate their 1st place victory at 8PM, only to find it was actually 2nd place at 8AM. That would be too bad. Thanks.

This is a simple thing to fix and they should have responded in some manner. Yet, several more weeks have passed and I wasn't happy that this problem forced me to change some faab bids when I spent a lot of time Saturday night on them based off of faulty results.

The STATS FU response is going to be met with the same FU response from my wallet. To spend this kind of money and get this kind of response is beyond words.



I guess reprogramming the lineup screen is a higher priority even though no one on the planet asked for it.

On the standings page update each night, the standings are calculated correctly.



The ERA, WHIP, and BA categories show 3-4 deci places, but are calculated and scored to the exact number that they are. (.2804 is shown, but it could be .28043754). There are never "ties" on the standings page in these cats unless it is a flat out tie.



The problem lies in the 'Live stats page'



If two teams are both listed as .2804, the live stats page calcs this as a tie, when it is not, so the live pages are never correct at any moment because there are always 1-4 ties in the three cats mentioned above. Last night in LV3, we had four teams at 1.341 whip.



All my leagues are incredibly close and watching live stats his a huge part of the fun. Please add a few deci places on the live stats for these three cats for calculation purposes to get them correct. Showing these extra deci places would be nice, but doesn't have to be done.

Can this please be fixed... Live standings are wrong 80% of the time.



Here are 10 examples from three leagues in a 20-minute span Sunday.



These are not ties. They should be carried out just like the standings page link does.



All of these scores are off by 0.5 when these are calculated as ties.

Horribly frustrating that they had all year to correct this when it hardly made a difference and they didn't get it done. Now it is the last week and on three of three nights I have not gone to bed and had the same number of points *and* was in the same place that I woke up in. And for as bad as it is, it won't be nearly as bad as Sunday (or Monday) night when I am wondering if I am really in whatever place I seem to be in. A lot of people must be upset with this.

its actually pretty easy to figure out. If you are tie in a category with the live update, the chances are whoever is ranked higher with the live scoring is the one who is actually ahead in that category. It is almost impossible to have a tie in those categories where decimals are carried out 4 or 5 places.
