Greg: How are the overall lifetime rankings calculated? There are some owners who I have beaten every year they've played the NFBC, yet they are ranked higher than me??? Other owners can say the same thing.

So in 2004 when we had 195 teams, multiply your team x 1.538 and you get your rank points for that year.

In 2005 when we had 300 teams, it's obviously where you finished.

In 2006 when we had 330 teams, it's your finish x 0.909.

In 2007 when we had 375 teams, it's your finish x 0.80.

In 2008 when we had 390 teams, it's your finish x 0.769.

Then you add up those totals from each season and get a ranking. This way even if someone competed just two years, you can compare them to you. Every team with 2 or more seasons is on the Lifetime Standings page.

I know Buster e-mailed me about changes that needed to be made to some of the calculations and I've asked STATS to make them. If we have errors in these rankings, let me know as I want these to be as accurate as possible and as relevent as possible. And then I'd like us to be able to sort these rankings if you want by just 5-year members, 4+ year members, etc.

[/QUOTE]Sorting by years seems short-sighted. 10 years from now are you going to have 15 different list?

I know this is only my second season and the players that have played 5 years wont feel our rankings are equal, but in 10 years will I still have to be seperated out because I didn't play with the original 195.

I do think the rankings need to be redone (how I don't know), but I don't think seperate list for years played is the way.

Russell, there aren't separate lists for years played. The Lifetime Standings rank everyone who has played 2 or more years. I said I'd like to create a Sort feature that allows people to look at how they would rank against people who have played 5+ years, 4+ years, 3+ years. Nothing wrong with adding one more tool to the existing data.

I would suggest that the minimum years be half the years of the contest, rounded up. 5 yrs = 3 yrs of play. 7 yrs = 4yrs of play.
