Tom/Greg -- what's the official ruling on Kevin Frandsen's position eligibility?
From the rules:
c) Those players who only pinch-hit in the majors in 2008 will be position eligible according to their minor-league games played status in 2008. They would qualify at the position they played the most games in the minors.
Frandsen was hurt all year and didn't play in the minors. He had one pinch hitting appearance in late September.
Executive decision time?

DIRTY GIANT!!!
Sorry, the 99.9% of you reading this that didn't go to the AFL this past fall have no clue what this means, but that other .1% just chuckled.

This is a clear case of logic over letter of the law. It would be silly to classify Frandsen as a UT only. He has played mostly middle infield in his career with San Francisco, and in 2007 qualified at 2B and SS, so going into 2008 that is where he was eligible - he should be eligible there in 2009 as well.
TOUT has already made this change in their rules - that a player who misses a year for whatever reason should have the eligibility he had previously.

Executive decision time? Yeah, this is a unique case. I don't see any games played in the minors or majors last year, so unless I'm wrong there he would earn eligibility from his last year in the majors. In 2007, he played 29 games at second base and 22 games at shortstop. Very bizarre, but he would have dual eligibility again according to our rules. We will add him to both positions if this is correct about him not playing in the minors in 2008.

Thanks Greg. It might be worth adding a clause about "previous year's eligibility" to the rules -- you know how testy people can get about this stuff
