When will baseball nix the designated hitter?
It takes out an important part of the strategy and true form of the game just to drum up more fan appeal and sold seats. For me, it does neither.

The MLB Players Association is too powerful to give up that position for their oldest members, who make good money just picking up a bat each game.

40 man roster extended to 42 AND 25 man active roster increased to 27.
Would 14 higher paid jobs be more important to the union compared to 60 additional jobs. Admittedly the additional 60 MLB position would be filled with lower paid people but the union would have an additional 44 members.
