Are owners who started Josh Beckett this week allowed to replace him in their lineup?

Red Sox placed RHP Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.

He did pitch earlier this week, so I'm not sure if he can be replaced. Thanks!

The man is on the DL, why would he not be able to be replaced? So what if he pitched, I wish he didn't, but he did. I believe we have always been able to replace pitchers who go on the DL as part of Fridays changes.

He shouldn't of been near a starting lineup, anyhow!

I'm hopiing Trevor Hoffman goes on the DL or gets a non-life threatening disease!
