A Soraino - Alert

Post by Dbaseball56 » Sun Mar 05, 2006 6:59 am

I'd be interested to hear everyone's view on Alfonso Soriano. Alfonso was great 2B in Texas confines, but wonder how moving to NL pitcher's park, not to mentione his unhappiness about not wanting to move OF, will effect him. I'm interested in Alfonso stat projections as well as what round you think he get drafted this yr ? Mock draft central still has him going average of 18th overall.

thanks

I will not even consider him until the third round, with the good crop of middle infielders why take a chance.

The guy has a 1yr contract @10 million. So he has to play and has to play well to bag a big FA contract. He's trying to force Was to deal him - the OF thing could be a smoke screen. He prob fears Nats park and that the NL could suppress his #'s going into FA offseason. Maybe he'll wake up and realize he'll commmand more as a FA OF than a 2b. It's in his best interests to play and play hard (most likely on the selfish side) which means a .255-.260 ba but 25hr and possibly 40sb. #18-23 makes sense.

Actually, he probably realizes that he'd make more as a premier FA at 2B than he would as a FA OFer. How many 2Bmen are available with 30-30 potential?

But I agree that if he played OF and did it well, then he could market himself as either a 2Bman or an OFer, and playing OF should not detract from his cashing in on a long-term deal.
