'POP' is a good_thing,_right?

When I use/hear the word 'pop', I mean it as a "positive" word. For instance, when I was a kid I use to call my dad and grandpa, pop. Another example, I like drinking most types of pop (soda)...Pepsi, 7up, 50/50, etc



Now last night I heard the word 'pop' used in a way I'm not familiar with. Here's what I heard...



"I'm just hoping it's not as bad as it could be," Victorino said. "I felt something pop and well up as I was running to first."



Any thoughts to the use of the word 'pop' in the sentence above? I'm assuming it's "positive".
