Marty What's the real story? They wouldn't just release a guy that's flashed his potential after a bad spring following rehab.

Maybe he is done, 600.000 is not much money for a guy who can pitch.I would bet Patterson was drafted in every league.I for one am suprised with this and can fiqure it out yet.

The Juan Uribe is another that suprised me, i thought he had won the job.Richar isnt ready and hurt and Rameriz is a better outfieder than 2nd base.

I thought he had a chance to start opening day.

Maybe it takes him until May to get into the low 90's. Not a bad guy to take a flyer on.

Makes my comment on these boards "I'll have Patterson on every one of my teams" look that much worse. OUCH! :D

Marty One down, two (Patterson and Hopper) to go before I feel better about my Freel pick, Marty!

:D
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Uribe is out of shape and the White Sox are looking at a choice of evils at 2B. Most likely they're trying to gauge interest, see if anyone claims him and then try work out a trade to dump salary and/or upgrade at the position. If there are no takers they'll pull him back and he'll stay with the White Sox and the 2B who stinks the least will garner playing time.

Patterson is a bigger surprise, I imagine there's more to the story that we're not hearing yet.

[/QUOTE]I think the biggest part of the story is that the owner was in attendance when he gave up 6 runs in a few innings and was said to be throwing in the low to mid 80's. I heard 87 mph in his other appearances.

Even Patterson has eluded to that fact that the owner didn't see his other 2 spring outings where he pitched well.

Like I said before, if Washington had guys that were ready to step in right away and contribute I could understand this move. But they really don't.

My guess is that Patterson will sign elsewhere even though they have left the door open for him to go to the minors.

Hey Wayne

Freel pick is looking good. I actually wanted 1 of the Nat SPs Glad I took Hill who of couse is injured. My gut tells me this year is going to be worse than last year injury wise. Hermidia might not start season and Schmoltz has stiffness in his shoulder. Might have to use FA money already.
