OK... since I coined it, I get to define it.

A "Chipper" is a guy you would never draft at all.

There are many reasons why this could be so. Some of which include he burned you in the past, he gets injured too much for your tastes, you live in a two-team market and he plays for the "other" team, he plays for the hated rival, or whatever you deem fit to be called a "Chipper". There are no wrong answers here as long as you would never roster the guy, period.

Some of my "Chippers" include: (KJ take notes for next year, I know you will ;) )

Chipper

D.Lee

Swisher

Sexson

Uggla

Weeks

Blalock

Rolen

Glaus

Tejada

Ichiro (when is he on a champ team?)

Beltran

Halladay

B.Myers

Ok, John, I agree/disagree on several of those, but I like the definition.

I will go on record as saying the #1 guy fitting your criteria for me would be Jason Bay. Although if I were Chipper, I would strongly protest being lumped in this guy and others.

I would call this my "Bottom of the Bay" list:

Honorary Lifetime Captain

Jason Bay

Regular Members (credentials)

Scott Rolen - (broken down)

Troy Glaus - (broken down almost as soon as began)

Jason Giambi - (just never liked the guy, especially in those deodorant commercials)

Richie Sexson - (cheap ripoff of Dave Kingman without the pizazz)

Michael Young - (the most perennially overrated fantasy player this side of Mr Bay)

Junior Members who could be seeking entry in '09:

Billy Butler (I haven't seen anything yet)

Howie Kendrick (a young Placido)

Wily Mo Pena (running out of chances)

I may add as they come to me, I'm sure there are another 5 or 10 ...

UFS how do you put Beltran on this list.He had that one bad year when he switched leagues.

2006 41 hr,116 rbi's, 18 sb and a 275 bavg

2007 33 hr, 112 rbi's, 23 sb and a 276 bavg

At 30 years old in that lineup he's not a good 2nd round pick. You need to better than this.

Chipper Jones is a Hall of Famer.

He goes up to the plate...he produces...this year...next year...and in 2010.

Case closed.
