Cabrera to first, Guillen to third

Leyland is switching it up full time. Looks like Cabrera's future will be at first and this does effect Guillen in that he may not stay as healthy.

Inge is still the best option at third, so maybe this will say more about Sheffield's playing status and Granderson coming back than anything.

Interesting, what would really make me happy is if they moved Guillen to DH somehow. If Guillen would just be a little worse, like 'Alex Sanchez' worse, it would be comic relief watching him play defense, as it is, its just painful.

Did you see Guillen at 1B? He's a better bet to stay healthy at 3B.

This year, the half dozen games I've seen, he played the position about as well as an athletically challenged drunk in a Sunday afternoon softball league.

Much has been made of his poor footwork around first and lining up in harms way in the Runner's path, but that's just scratching the surface of his defensive shortcomings.

Inge is their best 3B. He should be playing there at least when the Tigers face a lefty, and probably full time. Guillen had shoulder problems last year and wild throws from SS were exceedingly common. I don't see things getting any easier for him with the longer throw from 3B.

I can tell you right now that Tiger pitchers will probably have heart palpitations every time a grounder is headed for the hot corner.

Cabrera's range left much to be desired. The problem is Guillen's range isn't much better. Though he gets to more balls, he just doesn't like bending over to grab them.

This does solve a long term problem of where to put Miggy, as he's not a good 3B. He's got a very good arm, but no range and he boots a lot of balls. He looked comfortable at 1B and he profiles much better at that position.
