Discomfort in shoulder. He will miss Sunday's start and could be headed for the DL.
It's no longer a question of WHEN the Tigers will get to .500, but IF. They look like a team more likely to be leading the Majors in losses at the ASB.
Time for them to prepare to become sellers as the trade deadline approaches.

When and if the Tigers do decide to play for next year, it makes no sense for them to keep Jones in the closer role. Joel Zumaya and/or Fernando Rodney should be back soon. Jones could be traded, but not likely to team that would use him as the closer. I cringed while drafting Jones because he is such a marginal reliever at this stage of his career, but I never imagined the dearth of save opportunities for him.

Its interesting that you state you did not expect such a dearth of save opportunities from him.
I went in to the draft wanting to avoid Todd Jones because I expected a dearth of save opportunities.
I figured the Tigers would win most of their games by 15 runs and the save opportunities would not be there.
I certainly was wrong on their offense so far.

I certainly was wrong on their offense so far. Yes, I expected the Tigers to have more than their share of 10-3 wins. That said, I also expected a lot of 8-7 games because the Tigers starting pitching looked very shaky to me back in March. And that was even under the premise that Justin Verlander would have a another strong season.

Todd Jones actually picked up a save today, his ninth. Reverse psychology? Maybe I should comment every day on the dearth of save chances for him!
