Migraine recovery short-circuited

Post by kgrady » Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:53 pm

Finally shook off the effects of a migraine which has made the past day one to forget. Decided to check on my team to see if this week is getting off to a good start. 4 HR's, 9 RBI's. That works. Rats, Jon Rauch blew a save, but that's OK ... at least he struck out three batters. Hmmm ... Juan Pierre isn't playing tonight? Probably just getting the night off, but I'd better check just so that I can sleep more soundly tonight. Checked. Out 4-6 weeks with knee injury. Great! He can take a seat on the bench alongside Magglio. And will Hank Blalock ever play another game? I think I need another Excedrin!

Regarding Juan Pierre, is anyone considering cutting him? Pierre's injury is a sprained medial collateral ligament in the left knee. Reports are he'll be out 4-6 weeks, meaning a return around mid-August. That's still plenty of time to contribute steals, presuming his knee is properly recovered to allow for the running game. Pierre's fantasy value is effectively tied to his steals. If he isn't able to run much when he returns, his value is questionable at best. Thoughts?
