With Johan pitching Saturday, I am surprised the Mets didn't have him pitch Thursday-Tuesday-Sunday. It seems to me that getting an extra start out of him is more important than having him face the Phils. Just a thought, if someone could pass this along to the Mets Hierarchy...

Looks like he is pitching Friday. I'd guess they are setting him up so that he can pitch in the all star game.

Yeah, I was hoping for a 2nd start next week and although I am thinking like a fantasy manager, I am still surprised the Mets wouldn't want the extra start out of him. Maybe they are thinking that he'll help the NL win the All-star game thus getting the Mets homefield advantage in the World Series...I get it now.

I think that you have to weigh short term success against long term management. Their is nothing starting pitchers hate more than their team scheduling them so they can't play in the all-star game. You don't want to irritate your new 20M a year pitcher or set a standard where the players feel like management is against them. Aside from the pervading attitude in the clubhouse you are potentially sabotaging future deals with players who won't want to go there. Like with any other business, you need to try and get efficient production from your employees, but you also want to keep them happy.

I heard on the met broadcast last night they were setting up the rotation to have the lefties split up...Santana Fri, Maine Sat & Perez on Sunday
Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm bad....but I always try real hard.

Not sure which Mets will be voted in(Wright,Reyes, etc...) if any, but why do you think Santana will be in the All Star game. Wagner could go or maybe both Santana and Wagner. Just curious? Lincecum,Sheets, Webb, Volquez, are all going. Maybe Haren.
I know it is in NY but Santana could get squeezed by a pitcher who is another teams only good player. Maybe something like Rauch.

Well, the Mets will be sorry then 'cuz I guarantee you they think it's a foregone conclusion, but I think they probably want their rotation set up a certain way after, so there's that.

As his fantasy owner, I am glad he isn't going. I still think the Mess would have been better off getting him an extra start.
