Can one really be disappointed with a guy who has an ERA under 3??

I know I am. A lot of people, including myself, expected a monster season from Johan. Of course the bullpen has hurt his value this season, but I've been very unhappy with the results.

Does any other Santana owners feel the same?

I selected Johan Santana with my first round pick and I concur that the results have been less than anticipated. He's been very good, but not quite what he needs to be to justify the pick. Subjectively, he has not looked as dominant as I would have expected. That said, Santana has also been ridiculously unlucky. He's made 19 quality starts out of 25, yet his record in those games is just 8-5. The Mets bullpen has blown six wins for him. I almost fell off my chair tonight when Joe Smith and Pedro Feliciano actually preserved a 4-3 win for Johan with 2 innings of solid relief work.

There hasn't been that boost in strikeouts and that WHIP drag down that normally comes along with Johan. The wins or lack there of have been unlucky and more poignantly unexpected. But he is drafted number one for what he can do for the staff as a whole. This year there have been a number of comparable aces. As a big Johan guy, I will definitely be re-evaluating his 1st round viability.

Does any other Santana owners feel the same? I was predicting a monster year as well. His K/BB ratio is sitting at 3/1, while very good, it doesn't match his 4.5/1 to 5/1 K/BB ratio of the past. No longer Koufaxian, but still very good.
