Are we looking for a measure of Central Tendency?
KJ Duke: The current system is fundamentally and statistically flawed and so meaningless that no one takes it seriously.
Mean or weighted Mean don’t work or we wouldn’t be questioning how well it represents the lifetime standings. The reason for this is the outlier (Extreme value that we might question as a rare observation).
Gordon Gekko suggested: An owner is awarded the amount of points equal to where he finished overall. For instance, if someone finished 1st out of 390 owners, they are awarded 390 points. If someone finished 375th out of 375 owners, they received 1 point. Top 50 for each has been listed.
-Which is better 150th in 2008 or first in 2004?
Bobby J: At what point do you start throwing out the bad year.
One way is Median – the value of the middle item in the set of results.
Do we care about dispersion (variability around the central tendency)?
Berkshire Juggernauts: Why not just do career money leaders that to me is what its all about.
As Bjoak pointed out: some people spend 50K and win 20 and that would only add to the problem.
Hard Heads ask: Where do 1st year members rank lifetime?
One way is to show Net Money Leaders.
Asumijet & Hard Heads (and other rookies I assume) won money in main event Leagues, they deserve to make the list.
I would suggest a ranking that went by Net Money Leaders with the percentage of League wins (or top 3) in all NFBC league play and Median Overall Ranking (by percentile) listed.

Lifetime Standings?
I'd go nuts I'd be so happy, if I could see with full transparency all players NET profits. We could just NOT SHOW any player that is a NET loser.
I believe the results would shock you...in a bad way.
It would be great for debating who is best...but not so great for a reality check to this fun hobby.
...and when I say NET...at least it would be BEFORE taxes and NOT include what you spend on magazines, airfare, website subscriptions, hotel rooms, eating and such in said city...not to mention the hundreds of working/living HOURS lost!
WOW...thank goodness it's FUN!!!

We have not kept overall prize money listings in the past and it's foolish not to throw that in an Excel document now and have the records going forward. We have all of the results for prizing winnings in separate files and if we just put this in an Excel document and run a new total each year we can have this information.
When Shawn said that we've paid David DiDonato over $200,000 the last four years, it made me think "wow, I should have had that data first-hand." Now I will.
Give us a little time and we'll have this done and post it on the Message Boards. And we'll see if we can work on the Lifetime STandings to make them sortable by years as well. I also need to update the NFBC Records thread and a few more items. Stay tuned.

Lifetime Standings?
The most logical way to compare year to year is by percentile. That way, the number of entrants each year is taken into account and fair comparisons can be made.
