What is your guess on the ADP in 2009 of the big 3 in Boston?
It appears that they will be bunched together pretty tight as fantasy #2's.
a. Lester
b. Beckett
c. Matsuzaka

Lester took a huge step forward, but unless you project him as improving in K's, he still seems like a 9-10th rounder. Beckett is two years removed from being unstartable and was only ok this year and killed teams relying upon him down the stretch...7th-8th round. TO me, noone stats seem more "quiet" then Dice K's..which worries me...I avoid him in 09, but 6-8th round seems about right since some one from Beantown will go too high on him...nobody overinflates their players like Boston roto guys

1) that trio would be the 3 best starters on the yankees by 6,000 miles 2) lester march thru june= 107 innings 68 k's. july august sept 94 innings 84 k's about a 35% increase in k's. if he piches like he did in second half he k's 170. if he improves at 2008 rate he k's 225. i will say 20-10 with 200 k's 3.5 era and 1.20 whip. and i am a sox fan- white sox

Beckett is a lot like Jake Peavy in that both of them are pedal-to-the-metal type throwers. Both have the stuff that can get anybody out, but all four engines have to be running at maximum velocity. If there is a little speculative blood in you, Beckett would be the choice.
Lester was dominant this year. Sure the k's could have been better, but more than the top three of Santana, Lincecum, and Sabathia, over the course of the whole year, he would be the one that I would have the most confidence in to get a win on a given night.
If I'm a pitching coach, I am telling Dice K, maybe Dice BB would be a better nickname, to quit being a puss. Some of the best stuff in the game and he constantly nibbles or just flat loses confidence and really does get wild. Throw the damn ball over the plate, give up a few more hits and even home runs. Whether he knows it or not, he already does this with two men on or the bases loaded. Until he quits nibbling, I couldn't take him for fear of admitting myself into BB Anonymous.

Interesting that Dice W actually had a good percentage of first pitch strikes in 2008. Supports the idea that he is nibbling too much. He is maybe getting ahead and figuring it gives him the lattitude to shoot himself in the foot. Well, it seemed to work this year, but I'm skeptical he could keep it up. Who was the last guy to have a career BB/9 of 5 and still come away successful most of those years?

Doughboy, nice research on Lester. I drafted him 17th last year, but I fear that if his value elevates into the 4-7 round range (which you seem to suggest) he would not be great value, since that level assumes a further breakout beyond his breakout of 2008.
