In NY the range was from 8th to 42nd. In most NY leagues he was somewhere in the 2nd rd.

Yes I was the 42.

Yes I was the 42. 42 is insane. We heard on the way home on satellite radio that he is ahead of schedule.

21 in Chicago 3.

We took him 21st (we picked 10th). Let go on Carlos Lee and Soriano to do so, which really hurt. Just have to hope he is on a mission to show that w/o roids he is just as good as before.

We were lucky though, we got Manny in the 3rd, Quentin in the 4th, and Davis in the 6th to help make up for the risk of taking him

ARod selected 26th in LV3. As all of us here, I am hoping for a quick recovery.

I don't understand how you pass on a healthy Soriano and Carlos Lee to take A-Rod...

I'd love to hear your how you justify that. I can't see him putting up numbers anywhere near those 2 guys considering he is out at least 4 weeks and when he does come back he will have a bum wheel with no at bats...

Not trying to be a jerk, just looking for a good discussion.

I had the 12th pick and forget where he went in our league, late 2nd round or right at the turn for 3rd round...

thanks,

Aaron

Seefer, because when you project out KNOWING he's gone and fill in someone else you get Arod for 80% of the season + someone else for 20% of the season and combined they make a player. You don't have to sit with a hole in your lineup... and hopefully you drafted accordingly to make sure that was a minimized issue.

That draft slot (Arod + someone) should hopefully kick out .299, 105R, 38HR, 110RBI, 10SB - that's very productive numbers.

But you're right, it is risk - it's possible that one of the best atheletes in the world playing for one of the richest franchises in the world won't work very hard or won't rehab much and he'll come back ineffective. I just doubt it.

thanks,

Aaron We took Arod at 2.10 with both Soriano and Lee available. It is a huge gamble - I have had Soriano last several years and he has consistently missed significant time. Could be healthly and tear it up? of course - but he hasn't demonstrated consistency.

Lee was harder to justify. We decided that getting the potential #1 with a huge chip on his shoulder to prove that he is great w/o roids was worth it. We wanted targeted a top OF in the 3rd round and were lucky - Ramirez fell to us at 3.10

Right decision? we will find out. I do think that Robert Jurney having so much success with Pujols last year somewhat influenced us...

Spy - believe me it went thru my mind again this year when we got Hanley at 1.4, passed on ARod to take Morneau at 2.12 and then passed again at 3.4 when we took Alexei, he finally went 3.6, he was definitely intriguing at 2 and 3 but I just could not pull the trigger this year. ARod could definitely be a player on a few of the top teams roster this year like Pujols was for me last year. Good luck with him this year, if there was anyway he fell to 4.12 he would have been on the roster
