CreativeSports.com Mock Draft Results
Tonight the folks at CreativeSports.com are hosting a 15-team NFBC mock draft for their web site and The Fantasy Baseball Guide 2006 magazine they are working on. I am participating with the Doughboys from the NFBC (2nd overall last year) and 13 other owners. I have the 6th pick and Dan Kenyon is one spot ahead of me at No. 5.
The draft starts at 9 p.m. EST. I probably won't have time to post the results tonight, but we'll tease some early round results for everyone tomorrow. At the very least, it should get the ball rolling on 2006 and get discussions going on who should be the early picks.
Now, who do I take sixth? Yikes.

CreativeSports.com Mock Draft Results
Okay, the first official magazine baseball draft of the season has been held and the results are in. Just a note: We used the NFBC 15-team format and scoring system for this draft, which was held by CreativeSports.com and will be featured in the Fantasy Baseball Guide 2006 publication. We drafted 23 rounds (had to fill out an official starting lineup) and there will be NO transactions during the season, so injury-riddled players fell a bit in this draft.

Thoughts? Lots of solid picks- D Lee at 3 is terrible in my opinion, Conor Jackson at 58??
Also did not like Tracy at 52 or Pettite at 59, or F Lopez at 44.
Greg solid team for you- some good high risk and high reward guys in your starting rotation. All Harden has to do is stay healthy- do we have another Beckett on our hands with him?

Greg, you've got Schmidt and Garland both at round 10. Was Garland supposed to be round 13? Looks like a solid team overall.

Oops, Garland was in the 13th round. I just changed it.
It's an old team that in a real competition would likely need a lot of free agent outfielders during the season. But it should have enough speed and pitching to compete if injuries don't decimate this old team before spring training!

Although I liked Halladay and Harden to start my rotation, I should have taken Ben Sheets ahead of Harden. I missed him on my lists and Doughboys took him one spot after me. Schmidt and Pavano are gambles, but they're worth a shot.
Eight out of the first 44 picks were shortstops and the good middle infielders dried up fast. That's why I went with Soriano and Reyes to start out, which in itself is a gamble. I waited too long on the outfielders, though, which is why that offense looks too old. Finding power late was tougher than I expected.
This draft helps me as we produce our rankings for our first baseball magazine. We're writing the player profiles right now and doing the rankings. Our own first issue of Fantasy Sports Magazine will arrive in the mail for NFBC members in late January, so look for that.

Todd Helton at #26 is a huge fall from prior years after being a frequent Top 5-10 pick.
Carlos Beltran at #23 is a little more understandable as it's easier to see his 2004 as a fluke.
Once bitten, twice shy from these drafters.

Interesting draft....
Lee at #3 is just way too high imho, but then I see alot of players falling farther than I would have expected.
I like Jason Bay, but not quite that high.
Randy Johnson - I mean, he is still pitching for the Yankees right?
Adam Dunn - I figure him for end of 2nd early 3rd for sure
Delgado seems a bit low as well... I understand Mariano going lower due to age, but Lidge that low??
As for your team, I like it alot but I worry about the injuries. Ray Durham for example is basically a waste imho in a no-transaction league...

GREG i really like your rounds of 14th 15th and 16th.GULLIEN is an easy 25 90 with good bavg as long as he shuts up. GONZALEZ and WILSON can still mash , just need to stay healthy. WILSON missed over 20 games and still went 25 and 90.
These 3 picks will be key. good luck
