Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

If Haren gets to pitch twice every Sunday I'd take him, too! ;)

[/QUOTE]Funny as I picked Haren over Beckett so I obviously agree that he is a better pick. However, atleast for this year, Beckett has shown the best #s. More wins, better whip, ever so slightly better Ks, and only worse on ERA...

well sheep- this pitcher run is gonna make you correct on the split. good job. ps- if doughboys picks beckett it is good enough for me- his name is pretty high up on that all time list. to me- they are both good pitchers.

Lackey, Haren, Beckett, and Sabathia. All consistent studs. They should all go pretty close together, probably no more than a round apart in most drafts.

What I find interesting, since he has yet to pitch a full year, is that nobody commented on Hamels going before these number 1's. Possible Rich Harden clone?
On my tombstone-

I have Hamels below the other 4, which one of the other 4 would I want? I like Lackey the best, Beckett the least but they are close enough that I want the last one on the table a round later than the first one went.

I have Hamels last also. Sabathia first and Lackey second. Reliability is key for me. Lackey is super dependable I believe he has only missed 1 start in his career. Whip while lower this year has been only mediocre. Sabathia is a horse who might get better. He suffered from Borowski and lack of offense this year. Borowski figures. The lack of offense had me baffled. What happened to Hafner?

the thing with sabathia is- he will be at around 280 innings if they win the world series. i bet if he gets hit a little in spring training all the websites will downgrade him. tuff call- but if anyone can handle the load it is him. i know if he was there in 5th i was taking him or any of the others.
